I love Musou games but I'm not a fan of Fates and lukewarm on Awakening. I'll probably pass on this game and wait for a sequel with a better roster and DW9. Is is too much to ask for a bigger variety of titles? I don't even hate the 3DS games but I would like to see more variety in these kinds of games. Its especially ridiculous when the 3 most popular male characters in the series are probably not gonna be in the base roster at all. The whole "we wanna focus on getting a lot of representation for the different classes" argument is stupid too, as there's still no heavily armored character in the game yet. I guess Draug works but you know there's better and more interesting choices.

All I'm saying is that as a game "made for fans of Fire Emblem" I am barely excited. They picked the Fates royals who were shoved down everyone's throat in marketing and the first Awakening characters you meet+Lucina. Would it kill them to think outside the box and not just try to appeal to people who played 1 hour of Awakening and Fates? Give me someone fun like Arthur or one of the ninjas. None of the mechanics even take advantage of the FE franchise. HW led to some cool subweapons, FEW leads to obnoxious level ups interrupting the action. Sure we don't know the final roster yet, but I would put good money on Camilla, Takumi, and Azura rounding out Fates and Tiki/Caeda coming from SD. MAYBE a surprise from the SD guys but I dunno.

Every single fire emblem except for shadow dragon has done way better in the west than Japan, including awakening.
Awakening sold around 600k in Japan while it's done nearly 1M in America and 500k in Europe with similar ratios for fates, Blazing blade, Sacred stones, etc.

It just seems not very fire emblemy.
Hyrule warriors was goat with it's fanservice with all sorts of little details like the 8bit nes battle modes, attention to recurring mechanics, characters and so on.
With FEW there's stuff like healing items being fucking cups of tea. Not vulnerarys or elixers or pure water but tea, something that's never been in an FE game.

HW felt like a game where the devs were legitimate Zelda fans but FEW feels like they're just phoning it in and don't truly have a good grasp on the series.
