from the Foxconn leak earlier this year

"A much powerful version, producing 2000x units for now *The core is 1x times bigger than the one above,200m㎡, looking it looks like 12x18 *2 extra ram, this version is 8GB *2x wifi, 1hdmi, 1x mini dp, 1x ethernet, 2x unidentified socket, 3x network led indicator, *Looks much more complex than the normal version, 6, 7 extra unidentified storage, different socket *Not sure if this is Devkit, or it's an advanced version, not sure if Nintendo will release it (22 Nov 2016 update) Confirmed it's a devkit, and Nintendo was coming to exam the devkit today *No dock for this version for now *Can be plugged into TV without docking, power is inside *Speculated provided the core is only include GPU, it would be even more powerful than PS4 pro *Screen is the same size as the normal one *It's much more powerful, but also much heavier, not feeling great in hand, speculated for 4K gaming *Haven't seen such a huge core, and it's 16nm + 100mm2 main core *There's no battery inside this version"

Basicaly nintendo will be realeasing a supplimental computing device in form of a new dock that will boost the switch's power to the level of ps4 pro or better. It will also be able to stream games to the base nintendo switch on the go like the vita ps4 chrossplay.

This solves nintendos third party dilemma since they now would have compeditive hardware and it also means they will be able to focus all their games on one platform instead of spreading them out on 3ds, wiiu phones, etc

The reason we have not seen any third parties announce any major games for the switch is because they are holding those announcements back for the reveal of the improved dock with the better hardware. This might even be the case with some of nintendos titles like Retros new game and the mainline pokemon game
>>
Months ago I talked about a super dock that would come but anons just laughed it off.

the signs are all there imo but there has yet to be any official anouncement. The foxcon leak especially makes me think this must be a real thing since their info was so spot on when it came to the then yet to be revealed switch

>>385619943
Well who knows, maybe the usb c could pull it off. Anyways if the patents are true it would use some kind of streaming to the switch which might be the case even when docked
>>
>>385619943
I don't think it'll work like that. Probably some bypass in a new dock that would directly access the game card reader and run the games on the new dock's own hardware.
>>
>>385618001
Cloud computing? That meme where the gameplay was sent to a super computer via cloud and the n sent back processed just to be displayed on the screen? Like Netflix but for games?
>>
If the default dock is $120AUD, a new, super duper one will be at least triple that. The Switch is already expensive for what you get. This upsets me.

But what I think makes this questionable is that developers will have to build their games for like 3 different modes. Switch undocked, docked, and running from the super dock (via being docked or streaming to it).
I don't know, it just seems like it'd be a clusterfuck. What happens if I'm running a game from the super dock and I take the Switch out? Will it run from the dock still, streaming to my Switch, or will it start running just from the Switch?
Currently, the power gap between a docked Switch and an undocked one lets devs only change resolution and AA quality between them. Swapping out textures hasn't been a thing yet, as far as I'm aware. With a super dock, devs would want to be able to provide better textures, but swapping them out to account for a state change (taking the Switch out) takes much longer than knocking down the resolution.

>>385619943
Thunderbolt 3 would support something like that, but I'm not sure if the Switch's USB-C does.
If not, the dock would do all the processing. This'd be all well and good when it's docked, but if it's undocked and streaming to the Switch, how does the dock know what to output? Does the handheld Switch stream the entire game back to the dock? I don't know what the fuck. Maybe the super dock gets its own card slot. This idea is really strange, at least the streaming part of it
>>
>>385620329
>maybe the usb c could pull it
No, that's look up bandwith speeds for RAM and for moving shit from the processor to other components, usb c is not even close. At all.

>>385620371
So the new dock has it's own hardware and you just use the Switch as a holder for the game cards? Cause that sounds like an entirely new console, it sounds like the Switch is pretty redundant in that equation.

>>
>>385620619
The Switch will function as it normally would in handheld mode, but yeah I imagine it could become a sort of card holder when docked. I don't really know how they'll do with a setup of two processors trying to run at the same time if they want more power.

Don't be stupid, they literally have NO REASON to do this until the Switch stops selling, and that won't be any time soon. You people HEAVILY misunderstand how incompetent Nintendo is.

the reason would be to get the western third party support back by having hardware they can easily port their games to. Why wouldnt they want to do this?
>>
>>385621317
That sounds amazing. The screen would have to display an N64-style cartridge of the game on it, too.
>>
>>385621143
You can have two processors running at the same time, it's just a bitch to work with (look at Sega Saturn).

I can't find info on USB C PD (The kind Switch uses) but gen 2 USB C has a bandwidth of 10gbps (which is was slower than even Gamecube uses for just its RAM) so trying to run the CPU, RAM and GPU on that slow as fuck bandwidth would halt everything to a crawl. You can't have internal components communicating at that speed, the dock would have to be its own console.

I'm not even sure what the transfer speed for the game cards is, but I doubt it's slower than USB C.
>>
>>385620556
>that developers will have to build their games for like 3 different modes
They can just ignore it like the PS4 Pro/Xbox One S power patches shit

When will Sony release an external GPU so that third parties will be happy?
>>
>>385621432
Because Nintendo thinks the third party will flock to them as soon as they see the sales numbers.
>>
>>385621669
Funny, the video that pic vane from is where I got the idea. Gets at the nostalgiafag in me.
>>
surely if you're going to make an upgrade version you would just do it on the actual console and not the dock...
half of the price of the switch comes from all the bloody accessories anyway
>>
>>385618813

Not happening.
>>
>>385622012
they cant get a portable console to be on par with the consoles so the only way is to do it trough the dock.
>>
>>385622380
And consoles can be on par with pcs through a dock.

Plus they would probably release a version of this dock as its own standalone device which while part of the switch family (sharing the same software and being able to stream games to a switch) would be able to play games by itself without the switch.

think something like the wiiu but the controller is its own device that isnt neccesary for all the games

Guys, this is why we haven't seen Pikmin 4 for so long, they're waiting to reveal this dock. We're getting a 4K Pikmin game.

He did?
even if he did he is just ruining games these days anyway just look at sticker star and starfox zero
>>

Works for the handhelds and development is cheaper.
