Why do they make gaming chairs look like racing seats? Is there some gforce that needs to be accounted for that I'm not aware of?

Keep in mind that gaming chairs are more about support and posture. The foam is comfortable, but also fairly dense and so you won't sink into it in that sense (which most people think about when talking comfort).

Also don't buy DXRacer because other brands sell the exact same thing for cheaper. My Clutch was on sale for 350 CAD, almost half what I would have paid for a DXRacer.

i can't navigate the reviews for these chairs for shit, DXracer seems to be just expensive and publicized everywhere. But every review say they're well built and comfy as fuck, so i'm tempted.

Yeah, you're mostly going to see companies reviewing DXRacer, Maxnomics, and TTEsports because they send out review copies. Most reviews for others are people who have paid out of pocket to get them. As long as it has a long warranty, steel frame, and cold molded foam there's likely zero difference. The only difference between mine and the DX Racer is my lumbar cushion isn't attached to the chair, although my cushion is also bigger.

I bought a N Seat Pro 600, and once it's broken in it's actually really comfy. It's a bit dumb looking, but that's inherent to gaming chairs because hurrrr sports car seat durr high g sitting in one spot playing Halo blrgh.

To be fair, the chair manufacturers have taken note of this sentiment and their designs are usually available in plain black

My fucking knees would kill me.

Don't get the racing seat ones. They're comfortable at first but the fake leather shit eventually starts to peel and it gets fucking everywhere, and then the padding starts tearing. They are also not ergonomic and do not support your back adequately.

Spend a bit more money and get something nice. Try to find a chair that's rated for intensive use and has a reclining backrest.
