>taking time to get good is a bad thing
2k hours and stll playing. best game since idk
I wasn't even aware this was still a thing until a few weeks ago. It came out around when I bought my PS4 and I used my free month of PS+ to play it and then stopped when my month ran out.
I thought it was just some shovelware indie game that was kind of fun enough to last a few weeks, guess I was wrong as hell.
WE WUZ SAVED BY THE KEEPA
>>385617587
but its a shovelware indie game
stupid fucking american fuck
>bad camera
>bad air controls
>perfect
Rocket league pretty much fulfills what it sets out to do entirely, I agree.
Other examples of perfect games imo
>REmake
>F-Zero GX
>>385617732
>bad player
>>385617813
>no counterpoints
>better attack the arguer
>>385617813
to be honest he's right about the camera
>>385617732
how would you improve its air controls
>>385617283
The first time I heard someone saying IRL that "time to get good" / practicing is also called gridding I felt very disgusted.
>>385613440
>have to waste a lot of time to improve
Why would you care improving? RL it's one of those games that can be enjoyed even if you suck at it, i think this is a general rule of a perfect game.
>microtransactions
Non gameplay related.
>cancer community
Like any online game out there, it has a bit of everything.
>>385617889
The camera is fine so long as you don’t leave it on default and the air controls are great once you master quick aerials and air rolling.
>>385617889
>Arguer doesnt bring up any points to be discussed
>Just calls it bad
>Expects to be treated like someone with a brain
>>385617732
You do know you can adjust the camera?
Air controls are just fine, how would you expect a car with a thruster in the back to handle?
>>385613440
>having to git gud in a competitive game is bad
Complete and total casual. Get the fuck off /v/ already.
>>385618250
>>385618185
Forget it, its just a person who got frustrated that he couldnt learn the mechanics within 2 minutes, arguing is a waste of time. Hell never be convinced of any idea otger than his own
>>385617732
>sucking hard at the game and blaming the game for it
>>385618250
I have it zoomed out to max, and I don't like that you can only snap it 90 degrees in a direction. I also hate it when the ball is directly over you, and no ball cam is garbage for anything other than collecting boost or killing.
>>385618445
I have 100ish hours, can you not accept someone who played the game doesn't like it?
>>385618784
You're not saying you don't like it, you're saying the game has bad camera and bad air controls, which it simply doesn't.
>>385611974
Nah fuck this game. Just being aware of what the fuck is happening requires fighting the camera constantly. Actually doing something of importance never feels like it was on purpose.
There's better indie soccer-like games out there that's much easier to watch and understand. This one just got there first and locked down the market.
Fuck Rocket League.
>>385618784
You actually want the camera to be pretty close to the car, but it sounds like you’re playing kbm? I think they’re working on implementing mouse look but it is stupid how it is, it’s fine on controller though. I get why you say that about no ball cam but it does become very useful to switch to it brifly for more precise hits at higher levels and it’s needed for dribbling. 100 hours isn’t much though and it’s frustrating to even try and hit aerials until like 400 hours.
>>385618980
so you cant score, pass, or clear the ball on purpose?
>>385617732
>>385617938
once you learn how rotation works the camera stops being an issue since you already know where your players are at, all you need is a quick check by double tapping Y to see if they are where they should be
>90h+
>still don't know how to properly do aerial tricks
Only marked one aerial goal.
>>385618784
when the ball is directly over you you are supposed to turn off ball cam and check the circle in the ground
>>385620501
90h+ is literally nothing in rocket league
if you want to improve your aerials go to training, there's plenty of custom training courses, even the ones on the base game are good
>>385613440
>Skill ceilings being high is a bad thing.
I don't even like RL and i wouldn't use the word perfect but it set out to do a few things and did them all right so i guess i can understand why people are using it. But holy fuck its the same shit with fighting games which i do love some of people whine like it takes forever to get good when we have new blood players getting top 8 all the time in fighters against people with decades experience. And not just in crappy SFV. Tomo/Satou are two players new to GGXrd one of which was in grand finals.
It's predecessor was infinitely better.
>>385621138
Then why it failed?
>>385621313
because it wasn't memed and marketed enough
>>385621138
the only thing that sarpbc does better is having stadium
Am I the only player that uses ball camera almost exclusively?
I only quickly switch to the other mode sometimes to pick up 100 boosts
>perfect
It has a metascore of 85-87.
>friends who recently purchased rocket league want to play/ladder with me
>sure
>they have literally no idea how to rotate, refuase to even attempt aerials
>won't listen when I give tips
Is it my lot in life to suffer?
>>385613440
>it's literally muscle memory and hoping your team doesn't suck dog shit

I'm constantly stuck hovering around Gold 1 for competitive. Help
>>385622167
that's basic
maybe get some people to play with, if you really think you're that good? otherwise that's where you belong.
>>385622167
stop playing competitive for a while, go to casual and try new and risky shots
also start playing 1v1s
>>385620065
I'm not gonna say there's no skill in it. In fact, I think the problem is quite the opposite. The skill floor is ridiculously high. Until you reach that point, the game is a fumbly mess. It's not fucking fun AT ALL until your skill rises to the point where you can actually do something on purpose most of the time.
Literal real world soccer is easier to play for a total noob than this shit.
It'd be perfect if you could completely opt out of the shitty maps and only queue for new games in normal matchmaking. They try to pigeonhole you into doing shit you don't want to constantly and it's annoying as fuck.

As far as multiplayer competitive games goes rl is definitely as close as it gets to being perfect
