The actual answer is that the first two games were made by a primary studio, with the attention and dedication of an entire staff.

ME:A was made by an offshoot studio, not bioware prime, and as such the attention and dedication and skillset of the people who worked on it was less than that of a primary studio.

I still liked flying around and landing to explore and chatting with Suvi though, so I enjoyed parts of the game, obvious technical issues aside.

To be fair, Examples 1 and 2 are handcrafted while Example 3 uses a SHITTY character creator.
