I think people expected to... You know. Actually see her face 3d modeled in the game. Her face under the mask was literally another mask. On top of that, that particular piece of stock photography wasn't exactly uncommon to see on the internet at the time, making it more absurd and just amateurish.

I was really hoping for a million spiders

game was ok, not the best but good for killing time, but the story really became a letdown when it was revealed. Not even m. night shamalayan could come up with this type of plot twist
