They did change the battle system now though. You don't pick all your actions before a turn plays out, you and your enemies attack in order of speed as moves are selected. Fights take place at the space you are, character positioning also changes around during the fight and there's combo moves with other characters.

They removed monster recruiting ENTIRELY. In SNES 6 you could recruit monsters in battle like 5, and they made it easier since you could use sirloins for better recruiting chances.
