I had trouble at first as well because I started out in the Kerghit area. Those mountain bandits aint nothin to fuck with until you get a decent sized party.
They kicked my shit in for quite a while.

If you're just starting up and trying to get a feel for shit, try starting again and staying around the Swadian area killing small bands of forest bandits.
It's a grind for a while at first when you're just trying to figure out the game, but it gets pretty deep and fun later on.
Don't knock it because you can't catch your stride.
It's "supposed" to be realistic. You're not the chosen one, you're not a knight, you're just some dude trying to get by in a medieval world. You're gonna get your shit kicked in quite a few times before you make it, and even then you still might be knocked down a few pegs every now and again.

If you're crying this much, even on the lowest difficulty. Turn on cheats from the launcher. Crtl+x gives you 1000 money each time. Ctrl+t show all things on the world map. Crtl+left click on the world map teleports you anywhere. And if for some unknown reason you get caught in a battle, Crtl+Alt+F4 will knock out all enemies. There now play for more than two minutes.

Yes I fucking can you TaleWorlds-Baby. A good game without artificial difficulty would be Morrowind. The game exceptionally drops you in a world and guides you through without holding your hand. The environments are harsh but since the game designers knew they were doing. They geometrically averted you from such crisis. M&b doesn't have this type of game design and shits on the new players until they quit.

The main problem you seem to be having is in picking your targets. Don't be fooled by the fact that you can fight them from the very beginning, some enemy types are much stronger than others and will shit on you if you try to take them on without knowing what you're doing. Mountain Bandits are one of the stronger bandit types, and Deserter groups will typically be made up of medium level military units, as you might guess by the name. At the very beginning, you should really only be taking on Looters until your troops have been upgraded a few times, or you've hired some decently strong mercenaries. Speaking of which, don't even bother with the training arenas, battling is much better for upgrading troops.
Once you get decent at the combat, you can make a good bit of money by betting on yourself in tournaments. Be aware however, each time you win a tournament your odds of winning in that city will increase, and you'll make less money from bets. They'll recover over time, and you can wait it out by going to compete in tournaments in other towns. If you enter the arena, you can ask the tournament master where future tournaments will take place.

They did. The starting quest teaches you everything you could possibly want to know minus a bunch of late game things like corporations. After that it's all on you. You used Morrwind as an example for a good designed game, well Morrwind does the same thing this game does in the begging with it's bare bones tutorial.

The combat is fucking shit too, it copies Chivalry's combat mechanics, but its so fucking clunky and unresponsive that I fucking get killed by unintentional mistakes. I can't engage with any tribals without losing a significant chunk of my army (a.i is brain dead). I lose Denars so fast from maintaining a relatively expensive army. Do a quest for somebody where you tax a settlement. When you collect all the cash then run away with it.
Mind that the settlement getting taxed can revolt against you, and you will suffer relations with the lord who gave you the quest if you do run away. But if you are an honorfag then you only get a fourth of the tax money.

Also never buy the shitty armors and weapons from traders. Way too expensive than what you can get from a battle.

Pick a faction and get close to them, soon you will get your own banner and fortress+village. Manage the village efficiently. Only then the money will flow.

Look for companions in taverns. Jeremus is a must.

First, there is a skill in the character creation/level up screen the lowers casualties. All you have to do is read the skills to see what they do.
Second, you can, if you fight looters, just like in Morrowind, there are easy fights that anyone at lvl 1 can do, and hard fights that you must be a certain lvl to do. Guess what, Morrowind does this too. The Dark Brother Hood assassin, is quite the casual filter now isn't he.

The Dark Brother Hood Assassin attacks when ever you rest, even at lvl 1. The guy infront of the Dwemer ruins will also rekt a new players ass, and this is still in the beginning of the game son.

That's retarded advice as most of the gear you get from combat is genuinely shit, not even worth picking up for selling, while at the merchants you can find some really nice stuff such as:
high tier armors with negative attributes (that cost way less than usual and are almost as good as the armors without said negative attributes)
good weapons such as the jousting lance or hammers, or two handed swords with long reach
sometimes lame horses, which if kept in your inventory while not being used will heal up

get a good shield, order to follow, go first so majority of ai attention is turned towards you, then order to attack when you're on the top of the ladder. it also works well on the open field, you get everyone's attention when you're first and then your calvary just murders the archers after you ordered them to follow you straight into archer place.

Ah I see where the problem is. Fast forwarding is incredibely useful but you have to really pay attention to the groups around you. I recommend fast forwarding for a sec or two to check around you all the time if you don't feel comfortable with stronger enemies. The game's not that gard until later stages, but it's hard to graso at first and just not for everyone. I'd give it a second chance if I were you, lower the difficulty to minimum and use the guide posted here
