So I just finished Persona 3.

Is it bad that I cried like a bitch during the whole ending scene?

You should've braced yourself, anon. His fate was foreshadowed many times in the game. With that said I still teared up a bit at the end too

but damn it had the best story, shit.
Yes, its normal senpai.

OP here, I really enjoyed the entire game. I bought it and P4 two years back on a whim because I was looking for rpgs. God, this game hit me hard. The gameplay was fun as fuck, despite sometimes being annoying as hell (Instant death Hama and Mudo were a ball kicker during the beginning), the story slowly got me into the characters and made me care about each of them. I loved the Social Links and getting to know characters which also gave me a boost in battle, and I was shocked with a few of the story moments.

Overall, this would have to be one of my new favorites of all time. And damn, that ending. I'm still thinking about it.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Jesus, that really got me. No fucking clue that Shinji was going to go out like that. I was really starting to like him too right up to the point when he died.

There's really a lot of scenes from the game I loved. The whole trip when the team first meets Aigis was a great time, the old couple SL was heartbreaking, and anything with Riyoji since..you know. I think part of the reason that ending hit me like it did was because I spent time getting Aigis' SL maxxed out.

Same, they're very long games when you explore everything you can, take your time and enjoy yourself.
The Answer actually took me 25 hours because I started rushing things once I got good personas.

Not much, just be sure to not browse the internet until you beat it so you're spoiler free.
You should also get P5, it's more of the same but also better in many ways

Oh, my copy is FES. I was debating on whether I should play the answer or not. All I know is that it's just a new Tartarus dungeon with a new story. How does it exactly ruin the main game experience?

It's an epilogue. The reason people know that the main character dies at the end of P3 is because at the start of The Answer, they tell you.
Everyone's bitter, frustrated, and bothered that he died in Aigis's lap, Aigis reverts back to robot mode because her emotions are too painful and thus Metis is born and underneath the dormitory, a new tartarus opens up because everyone's clinging to the past.

My gf ruined the ending for me since she played it through gods know how many times and made sure to spoil EVERY emotional moment by chiding on... but it was still rather touching. Have to thank her for at least introducing me to the series, but she really needs to learn to shut her mouth. THANKFULLY, she hasn't played 4 or 5, but she had watched playthroughs for both, so I instantly tell her to GTFO when I boot them up.
>>
>>385584787
Thanks! I've heard a lot of good things about P4, and I have been hype for P5 since the trailers started coming out when I was in the middle of the game.

>>
>>385584985
Really? Damn. I mean, I kind of wondered if he was slowly dying due to how tired he was and how he fell asleep at the end with Aigis saying that he'd wake up with his friends there. Then I figured I overthought it because I wanted them all to have a happy ending. But now that I know that he actually did, that makes the ending depressing as fuck.

Keep Metis on your team, she has every element and will help you get all out attacks (which you should always be aiming for, they make the game a breeze).
Get one party together and stick with it the whole game.

This boss fight is the pinnacle of video games. I say that completely seriously.

The emotions you feel as you fight the avatar of death followed by everyone cheering you on, ending with Shinji's "Let's do this".

Perfection.

>The moment man devoured the fruit of knowledge, he sealed his fate... Entrusting his future to the cards, man clings to a dim hope. Yes, the Arcana is the means by which all is revealed... Beyond the beaten path lies the absolute end. It matters not who you are... Death awaits you.
I wish I played 3 last so 4 and 5's final bosses weren't so disappointing although I guess 5's was pretty good where you shoot Yaldabaoth in the head.
>>
>>385587869
Where did I say that? I accept that everything will die, but that doesn't mean I want them too. Shinji's death is just something that needs to happen in order to make the story work. Having him survive through one of the most bullshit ways possible ruins what the game was about.

I didn't really think about it much. The fatigue system meant you saw the "you feel tired..." thing a lot.
Most people didn't know he died until The Answer came out, then it suddenly became "common knowledge". I fucking wonder why.
