Also you have to remember that your entire party gets shot, stabbed, electrocuted, set on fire and frozen in blocks of ice to name just a few of the things that happen to them on a daily basis and Squall wound is made by the most adept magic user in order to incapacitate Squall and not kill him. How does that work? It's magic. How was he healed? It's magic. Magic in a FANTASY game in a world where we have curative spells, Phoenix Downs and stuff like that completely healing those wounds is reasonable."

I understand what you're trying to say, but there was always a dissonance between cutscenes and gameplay in JRPGs. Squall was stabbed in the cutscene. Phoenix downs are used during gameplay. If Phoenix downs could bring him back, they should've brought Aeris back as well. But that's not what story demanded, so Aeris died. Same thing could happen with Squall if writers wanted it.
