How can one video game attract so much cringe? How is it possible?

I don't even know, the Undertale fandom just metastatized so rapidly and reached critical mass just a week or so after the game released and was gone as quick as it came.

It's cardboard cutout exaggerations of a character set to a cartoonish standard mixed with Furry-tier levels of smug design and bad taste, Undertale is a perfect game for asperger furries to be honest.

I actually liked the game. The different endings and the true ending were interesting and I had fun doing it. The music is really nice.

That being said after I got all the endings I never played it again. I've gone out of my way to avoid the fans because they seem batshit crazy and I don't want to taint what was a positive experience.

Sans hits a number of common tumblr tropes that caused an immense amount of flanderization whenever autists think about him:

Despite being just "le funny skeleton man" for 90% of the game fangirls who can't write exaggerate the above characteristics since they find those things appealing, not realizing that the restraint the game shows with most of it is what made the character good in the first place.

Don't get me wrong, the autists exist and they're cringy, but I'm not annoyed by them since' they're contained within their circles and not metastasizing anymore. The game was good, I had fun, and people both shitposted and went autistic about it. That's it.
