Firstly, they're recording it in 30fps so their maths about how many frames you have to react to an oncoming enemy doesn't stack up. In reality you'd have something like 14-15 frames to react to an oncoming obstacle at full speed, or roughly a quarter of a second. It takes a tenth of a second for your eye to register light, and the average human reaction time on Human Benchmark sat at somewhere around 220 milliseconds for years, though it has gone down in recent years due to change in monitor technology.

In short, if you're an average human and you're playing on an actual Sega Genesis on a CRT, their math for being unable to react in time is complete bullshit and you should be fine. Aside from that however, there's very rarely any truly cheap enemy placements (Metropolis Zone aside) and you can bypass a lot of the problems they're having by just learning to roll at the right times.

All of which is irrelevant anyway because if you're not playing on a Genesis on a CRT, there's no good reason for you not to be emulating the Taxman versions, which are better in every way and are also 16:9 so if you're too retarded to react on time then you've got a major safety net in the extended screen space afforded to you.
