Prince of Persia

I was under the impression that this was a classic on /v/, but whatever. My most vivid memory of the game was the tower climb at the end. Not having the rewind dagger added quite a bit of tension, considering one fuck up meant starting all over.

Well you rarely see people talking about them. Was a bit shocked when i saw that the forgotten sand came out in 2010, thought that it was 4-5 years ago.

Also Prince of Persia was for all of its flaws still a relaxing and fun game.

Just to add on, there was this one wall jump near the end of it that required you to descend instead of ascend. Getting the timing right was the bane of my existence.

I actually never played Forgotten Sands, only the trilogy. Is it any good?

I must have played it around 6 years ago and i don't really remember it that strongly. It was alright but also pretty forgettable. Replaying the trilogy right now so i plan to play forgotten sand after it if i haven't burned myself out yet.

Ayuh, I know how ya feel there anon, that I sure do, but feelings have a way of circumventing that little voice of reason up there in your noggin. You saw what happened to Thief, didn'chya? You saw what happened to all sorts of good and decent games, brought back with the best of intentions and perverted into something awful strange and wrong? I understand you deeper than you'll admit, Anon, and I'm going to say this from experience that I'd rather not relive:

Sands of Time was fun.

Warrior Within was annoying and stupid, although it did inspire the line "I smolder with generic rage" from PA which is great.

The Two Thrones was actually pretty fun and a decent way to accept Warrior Within in the canon whilst still moving away from it.

No fucking idea what was going on in the last Prince of Persia but everything new they tried was shit and all the old stuff they copied was boring.

My dumb ass child brain could not comprehend that puzzle when i first played SoT. Ended up getting my mother to help me with it. I bet if I were to replay it now, it would be a joke.

I just want a 10-15 hour long singleplayer game with a simple but charming story, nice looking environments, simple combat and platforming that is not simply holding down a button. In what perverse timeline is that too much to ask for?

I should really replay Prince of Persia 3D. I remember playing it as a child and dying all the time. I probably didn't even finish the first level. How well does it play on modern machines?

Sands of Time was weird with combat. It realised that the main draw of the game was the platforming and the movement, so it kept combat to special segments. But then all the combat sections went on for 2-3 waves past being fun. They were rarely challenging and got old fast, and just KEPT ON GOING. They should've reduced it to one wave here and there, and more boss characters that required creative environmental stuff to defeat.

Yeah i just defeated my father and after defeating wave after wave or respawning soldiers i started to think that they would respawn endlessly until i defeated my father. Then i kept going for another couple of waves and then they ceased to spawn.
