I actually really like it for the gameplay. I don't know, the stun system, the way you can use allies to expand your moveset and the whole combo cancelling thingie lifted straight from bayonetta really elevates it. Varied and fun movesets helps a lot too.

I see your point, but I'd argue at least in bayo you can make combos and stuff, all while looking stylish. There are systems that allows you to go quite in-depth (the whole buffering and combo delay) not to mention all the subtle things you can do with different weapons.
Here you have croud control you don't need, launchers you don't need, moves you don't need. Just spam the basic string, it works better and it's faster. It's not like you get penalized in any way for it.

Outside of guard one it's worthless
That guard skill always pays for itself and kills skill and NP damage
Spirit theft is how you are going to get mana until you get passive which gives you over 30mp after each fight
Also don't bother with agility since your guard skill always goes first

You can play all of Nero's route as redman though. Plus you have to sit through two shitty routes that you'll only like if Tamamo/Nero is your waifu before you get to the actual interesting bit of the story. You can also skip most of the dialogue in Nero's route since it is at least 50% "Wow Nero is great/beautiful/brave/merciful".

I use same instant skills like instant kill and gauge building like with everyone else but damn he builds both of those gauges so fast i actually forget about spamming them, nothing like building both to 100% by shooting shit at regular enemies.

The biggest problem with Extella is that they didn't capitalize on the 1 thing musous are good for which is large, sprawling wish fulfillment tier casts.

By keeping the shitty story structure of a musou game and not having a good freeplay (ala Dynasty Warriors Empires series) mode or a huge cast it was basically using the genre to its bare minimum. They could've told the story of Extella in a fighting game with VN elements like Blazblue and even that would've been better
