yes it is when that applies to every car in the game and when the roads are literally a square grid. you can even drift a motorcycle in that game. it was too bogged down by the over done physics engine, driving like a granny while in the infernus isn't fun.

You didn't have to drive like a granny though, all you had to do was exert throttle control when needed, use racing lines and clip the apexes of those 90 degree corners for the fastest way around them. The challenge was that there were elevation differences all over the place and cars, especially sports cars likely due to their suspension settings, were very sensitive to how the road was paved, and different boroughs of the map were paved to varying degrees of competency. Failing to account for either of these and not exerting throttle control is why people spin out or understeer in those corners. I found it very fun to master this system, and I felt rewarded when I did it. When I did, I beat 5 Feltzers in a race using a taxi van because I knew how to use the roads and how to tackle the corners. I felt like I won because I was the better driver instead of just having the better car.
