Does Dark Souls have good music?

For the setting, yeah. Demon Soul's composition was weak but DS1, BB, DS3 are all pretty great. D2's music I could take or leave.
imo, yes.
It's complementing gameplay while not distracting from it.
It's also a nice mixture of "scenic", slow and calm pieces and aggressive fast boss themes.
most of it is boring choir shit which all sound the same to me, especially the boss encounters
the only ones I can listen to on their own are its subdued tracks, like Firelink Shrine or Demon's Nexus theme

The first one has many memorable tracks. The second and third are generic as it get with the third trumping the second for mf randomized nonsense vocals. bloodborne has 2 tracks that are decent to very good as does demons. Overall its probably something like this
DS>BB>Demons>DS2=Ds3
DS1 had really great music, I liked DS2's music as well but it was kinda forgettable. For instance I can recall specific great tracks in DS1 (Gaping Dragon), but cant recall anything from DS2, and I basically played it twice back to back. Havent played DS3 yet, so I cant really say shit about its OST yet. Demons Holes had pretty great music too, and I've liked what little I've heard in Bloopblorp too.

Better than the bombastic vocal sample trash that plagues the Dark Souls games.
Dark Souls' soundtrack is the clear work of an amateur, as evidenced by the repeated occurrences of bad voice leading, baffling orchestration, and in general a poor job of writing for MIDI instruments. Sakuraba uses chromaticism like a toddler plays with a truck in a sandbox, crashing it every which-way in a display of childishness, most evident in the theme for the Demon enemies. The pacing of the music is also severly off, as quieter or otherwise transitional material simply comes out of nowhere due to a lack of finesse in guiding the composition, such as with the music to Ornstein and Smough. The only good moments of this entire soundtrack are the simplistic yet elegant pieces for Firelink Shrine, Ash Lake, and Gwyn.
Demon's Souls was good. Sadly, nearly every other game had music indistinguishable from each other, outside from a few noteworthy tracks.

>Does Dark Souls have good music?
It is pretty meh when compare to some of the giants of game OSTs like Homeworld,Morrowind,Red Alert 2/Tiberian Sun,Baldur's Gate 2 or TW3 + countless others.
Just listen.

A really powerful and energizing OST.
The music fits very well, but it's not memorable. I feel many of the tracks are very similar.

They all have good tracks but BB and Dark Souls 3 brings out the pinnacle of the game's soundtracks. King's Field 4 has very good soundtracks as well.

>the composer for the Dark Souls series also does most of the Tales of music and other JRPGs that aren't Squeenix
Still gets me
>Listening to music on shuffle, headphones in
>Next song, weirdly atmospheric and quiet but I'm curious what this is
>Suddenly strings at +50db
You're not missing anything if you don't order their Star Trek collaboration vinyl collection.

Not really.
I mean there's some standout tracks here and there but most of the time it's just generic shlock. Anyone who says it's good overall hasn't played any other fucking games.
