MCH is fucking ass all the way to 70. Once at 70 it starts getting a little fun with the flamethrower, but don't expect to asskick any other DPS in ACT.

The 70 opener goes something like this:

(preloaded 3-ammo, gauss on and reload is ready) -> Gauss Round -> Barrel Stabilizer -> Hot Shot -> Split -> Overcharge -> Slug -> Flamethrower to around 70-80 gauge -> Reload -> Wildfire -> Reassemble -> Clean -> Rapidfire -> Ricochet -> Split -> Gauss Round -> Slug -> Split -> Clean -> Quick Reload -> Slug -> Clean -> Split (and hope for procc) -> Slug (if procc) -> Hot Shot -> Rotation.

Hopefully I didn't forget something there. I'm not sure if the opener changed after the heat gauge changes, but yeah, MCH needs some love, especially at lower levels where you do shit damage and isn't fun whatsoever.

So is DPS fun in this game? I've tried multiple MMOs as a DPS and it just wasn't engaging to me, whereas something like healer or tank I have more things to worry about than dodging AOEs and maximizing damage, and that generally keeps my attention better. I've got a healer close to cap and a mid-level tank that I've been having fun with, I'm not sure if I rolled up a ninja that I wouldn't get 30 levels in and think "yep, still not fun to me".

The DPS rotation as a healer is fucking braindead but when shit starts going south I get to swiftcast things and pop a whole bunch of cooldowns while making sure everyone is staying alive and suddenly everything is fun. I had to look up a written description because WoW's visual communication system is absolutely fucking ineffective but it's a bunch of stack-soak-unstack. From what I understand the general issue with Kil'jaeden taking as long as it did was insanely high numbers tuning which normally doesn't happen in XIV. Another thing that makes XIV raids look easier is that it only has 8 people in it which allow for both tighter requirements but also easier coordination.

Still, from just mechanical standpoint - T7S, T9S, A3S prenerf, A8S, all of which require precise timing and positioning in very specific combinations.

I'm on O4S, I mained WAR in ARR/HW and right now I don't see how anyone can justify taking it to Exdeath/ Neo Exdeath when PLD/DRK do the same DPS, can take any tankbuster just as well and actually have utility. DRK isn't in a great place compared to PLD either, but WAR is the worst by far.

When you don't think of it as an MMORPG but a JRPG with co-op it becomes immediately obvious why it's so popular with weebs. I bought the game and have been playing it because I heard it was story heavy, had good music, and had references to other FF games. That's it.

Literally the only thing that hits DPS that phase is the stack mechanic that only does like 12-13k, the second one that phase doesn't even have a stack. The vuln stack is only for lightning damage, which he doesn't even do until the final phase.

This always fucks me up the most. My main job is a healer and I'm always just fuckin' waiting for a chance to pop my cooldowns and actually have some difficulty in my life. If I'm playing tank and the healer never narrowly saves me from death at ~10% I make sure to commend the dps instead of him. If you ain't swiftcasting cure 2/3 at least every other pull you aren't doing enough dps.

I'm giving some leeway towards lower leveled dungeons in the roulette. Aside from the braindead tank dps rotation and the "make sure you still have aggro" routine there's plenty of time to check my health vs. what the healer is doing. Even at its worst it can only be as bad as the games it's calling back to, but I also see a lot of little details thrown in that at least gives the appearance that they gave a shit. That's more than can be said of other games lately.

What pisses me off is the fact that DRK and WAR feel so similar in the playstyle. I started to level WAR because everyone seems to play DRK and Im a class-hipster. But after reaching 50 I realized that my playstyle and even my hotbar is pretty fucking similar to DRK. Does it get better and noticable different at 70? What are the thing sthat separate WAR from DRK?
