Pokemon Sage, or at least it's shaping up to be

This. 2kki is great though, but it lacks the stunning atmosphere of the Yume Nikki, which makes sense since like a billion people worked on 2kki.
I wish Kikiyama made another game. It will likely never live up to Yume Nikki, but damn if it wouldn't be a wholly unique experience I bet.

I like Nikki more because it actually feels like there is some sort of meaning behind everything, its more coherent.
2kki is kind of a clusterfuck given that its been worked on by so many different people.
Granted, a big portion of 2kki's charm comes from how pantsu on head chaotic it is but I'm still a YN fanboy.

imo the chaotic part fits with the dream 'narrative.' the dreams i have are more random, with nothing piecing together every aspect of it to make it comprehensible. thus i feel like 2kki is more 'realistic,' in the sense that i get immersed in it easier and truly feel like i'm dreaming, but thats all just from my point of view

I think dreams generally reflect the mental state of the person having them in some way though. Even the really strange and seemingly "random" ones are based on things like your mood and your life experiences.
I'm not really an expert on the subject, but I'll just put it by saying that psychology is cool.

I've never played 2kki, but from what I've seen, it looks like it doesn't have much coherence to it (which makes sense, seeing as how it was made by loads of people). I'd say .flow is better than Yume Nikki in many ways though.
It has an interesting but still ambiguous story, and there's less time spent just walking through voids. I still love YN though. It has a charm that really can't be replicated.

Fuck yes, a yume nikki thread.

Yume Nikki is considered to me a narrative without words, all visual representation and metaphor of a girl's troubled life.

Yume 2kki is like a mish-mash of fever dreams, dreams that you'd sporadically have throughout your life. It's not so much telling that character's story, so much as it is exploring people's interpretative dreams.

I don't know how the fuck to describe .flow though, but my god do I love that fangame, and consider it one of the best fangames

i feel like a game centered around dreams should be more of you exploring the surreal dreams that everyone has at some point or another rather than it being focused on the character you play as (i think a game about dreams should be about the mood and ambiance), so i prefer 2kki because it was more of the former and nikki was the latter.
