Anyone else been playing this early access game?
To use the comparison terminology kids these days use, it's a Rogue-lite Metroidvania.
I've found myself hooked on it.
I even got into the whole speed run doors that you have race through levels to get through before they lock.

not always successfully
I also tried out the beta option to get into the newer version of the game. Of course it's not quite stable and I got stuck on the first boss once.
Gotten killed by elites a number of times. Sometimes the drops really aren't worth it. I guess that's the cost of the Rogue-lite-ness.
You can stop shilling now, nobody wants to fund your shit game.
Also the cursed chests, which activate a curse where one hit kills you, are no always worth it. I have gotten a little better at playing more careful while cursed, but sometimes I still slip up.

They're not paying me. I do it for free.

Excuse me. Rouge-lite.

>Excuse me. Rouge-lite.
>being this retarded

My point is that I can't stand permadeath, 90% of the time it's only used to inflate the amount of hours in a game.

I tried finding the most light red screenshot I had for that horrible pun, dammit.

I hadn't really tried them before aside from Spelunky and Rogue Legacy. Spelunky I got into too. Moreso the Castlevania elements got me sold on buying this (in a Steam sale).
Oh shit. Wait. Risk Of Rain is too, isn't it? Friends talked me into getting that with them. Even tried a couple /v/ hosted games.
A friend talked me into trying his copy of Dark Souls, which is a 3d rogue-like, right? That's when you can go back and look your corpse? I really sucked at that.

>Dark Souls, which is a 3d rogue-like, right
Nope, the progress you make is permanent all you lose is your experience.

waiting for it to get out of early access, looks fun

I dunno if the pemadeath thing is combating my bit of OCD by learning to let things go or feeding it making me more obsessed with getting better next time. It is kinda crap shoot what you find, but I also find myself learning weapons and skills better. Even if things you find are random, there is some strategy in learning what to keep and what sets of weapons combo well together. It's not just a gamble.

Ah. Ok. I honestly did not get far at all in that, so I barely remember what it was like other than dying and dying and dying and dying and dying and dying.

I also wanted to try a game in early access. Hadn't done it before. I even read about the beta and figured out what to click on to try that. Except for that time I had to restart from the prison cells again when I accidentally the boss out of the play area and couldn't get him nor get killed, it has been good. That was the only glitch so far. Plus the new monster and background art is nice. It's pretty much an update ahead of the non-beta... which is still early access. Was telling a friend about it and he was confused at first that there was a beta within the early access game. The times we live in.
As usual the fucking flying bat things are annoying as fuck.
Of course whips and other larger area of attack weapons are great for them.
You find blueprints to unlock weapon drops and then add dead cells / souls you collect to power them up more for when you do find them.
I regret unlocking some, especially shields that I just have not gotten good with, especially with good projectile and freeze weapons.
I've cut it close on a few of the speed run doors. Though only the one after the first boss and I think the Ossuary that are the ones with blueprints in them. I guess that is kinda bullshit.
I did make it past the door to the clock tower level in the Fog Fjord, but the level isn't released yet. I just wanted to see if I could make it. I guess I am pretty done with the game for now. Though they did just introduce daily level runs like Spelunky has.
