Combat doesn't hold up to those games, much more shallow and drags on for a long time.
If you're getting it for the conbat, don't, it's shit.
I got it for the narrative and even with that the game felt like a massive waste of time.

The story is a fucking mess too, but it can be entertaining and has some great moments. Nier Automata is basically album if the year with a decent game attached to it, but generally the music and presentation makes you think it's better than it actually is.

You'd be better off just emulating Kingdom Hearts 2. Or just get DMC3 or 4 if you want a straight action game.
