2 hours in. It's pretty bare bones. Hardly any people to unlock. It came out recently in Japan too so I'm waiting for a big update. Also artes which are tied to weapons are the gacha.

unfortunately for that notion, it's fucking terrible and not fun or rewarding to play
and i say this as a talesfag who could tolerate even the bad ones

at least it's a step up from cashgrabs like link and asteria that didn't even have anything to do with tales, but it's below the whole tales of the world series which were just lazy fanservice themselves
the controls are decent for a mobage and it does at least play like tales, but it's marred by so many other gachashit problems that i couldn't stomach it past the content it had at release

you'd think "you don't gacha for characters" would be a good thing, but the fact that you gacha for artes is essentially even worse because you could end up getting nothing worth using for a character you like, making them essentially just wastes of space if you try to use them anyway

Also, in case the "I'm just pretending to be retarded" people don't know, 80% of the characters in OPs pic aren't even in the game yet. Not to mention that the gacha aspect of this game is the only way to get equipment that is character specific and unlocks artes. As well as unlocking Mystic Artes for each character via the same gacha. Literally P2W in its purest form.

So long as you have 1 arte they are usable. You always have at least 1 arte, 2 if they are an event character. You can fill the other slots with other characters artes to get the stats.
It's not like the AI can combo intelligently, so you don't ever more than a couple character specific artes

It's shit. They lure you in with combat that feels like a Tales game but it's mostly just tapping to auto attack with no way to dodge, so battles later on will rely on what gear you've pulled from the gacha banner, and artes are also locked behind this.

Plus the game just launched and there's no kind of celebration bonus allowing you to re-roll. I can't play a game that won't even attempt to get people interested by giving a free 10 pull.

I don't wanna talk about the mobile game, but who here is hype for TGS?

Tales games have looked cheap since Xillia. I remember loving the look of the current engine when it was first revealed, and it worked for that game, but it didn't suit Zestiria or Berseria at all.

Shitty mocap and clipping out the ass are probably here to stay, but I'm excited to see what they've been working on. Has anyone been in the loop since that interview where the guy talked about vehicles and stuff? Do we know anything new?
