I'm convinced most of the people (person) screeching didn't actually care much for the previous games either.

The character designs in all of the games are garbage and I love them.

I'm not sure if Shulk will get replaced. You don't see Fire Emblem characters getting replaced, so it seems more likely they'd just add an X or 2 character to exist alongside Shulk. But what's even more likely is that they'll just keep Shulk and call it a day because some people might get pissy is a niche franchise like Xenoblade gets two whole characters.

If you're referring to Shulk as an example of bad character design, that's a bit much. He has the typical JRPG shit of thousands of belts and too many accessories, but at the end of the day he's just a blonde haired guy wearing shorts, boots, a sweater, and a small jacket over it. Comparatively, the XC2 MC is wearing what looks like a onesie, giant boots that go up to his thighs and connect into a waistguard/belt, crossing belts on top of the waistguard, a super small jacket, gloves that are asymetrical in size, a random crossbow on his arm, and a bright greenish X on his chest.

I loved the past games, loved Shulk's design, and really am not a fan of the design for this new character.

I guess my problem then is that the outfit still doesn't have to be like that specifically. Shulk was basically an engineer, but didn't dress with tons of tool belts and shit all over him. He dressed as someone that worked in his world both to fix shit up and help out where necessary. I don't really think the XC2 MC needs to be running around in a diving suit to show he dives, but whatever.

That's what I'm hoping too. Xenoblade Chronicles actually surprised me when I found out your gear would completely change throughout the game and mostly be reflected in cutscenes.
