It's basically the same with some caveats.
Gear has a limit as to how much of a particular stat it can have on it. So if your gear is already maxxed on Crit and you try to meld a Crit materia on it, it won't give anything, it'll just say +0.

Overmelding is only available on crafted gear and gear for crafters/gatherers. It lets you meld materia beyond the base number of materia slots on the piece of gear (up to a max of 5), with a chance that the meld will fail and you'll lose the materia. So if you get a crafted gear piece with 1 materia slot, you can meld to that 1 slot guaranteed, and then meld up to 4 additional materia with a gradually decreasing chance of success.

Hagakure is basically another DPS boost for you, and you want to use it as soon as it's up.
So let's say that you just used Yukikaze and there's around 6-7sec on Hagakure, you want to use Hakaze > Shifu > Hagakure > Kasha > Shinten > Hakaze > Shinten > Jinpu > Shinten > Gekko > Hakaze > Yukikaze > Kaiten > Midare (depending of your original kenki amount, you may want to use only 3 shinten)

Keep in mind that's the ideal situation, you may also use it at 1 or 2 sec to use Guren quickly or put your dot up immediately.
