The politicians over at California need to see that the unstoppable conquest of America is not working and is making the NCR weaker, so they need to stop and rethink their strategy, maybe focusing on getting rid of the Legion first.
Also, House will keep giving energy to them and Vegas will become richer with tourism, allowing House to start planning on how to better the Mojave, leaving the Courier all the luxuries of the city without having to worry with leadership, doing what House asks him to do when the need arise (House, depending on your Karma, even respecting and feeling proud of you).

He really doesn't, he explicitly states that they're only there to keep the NCR and the Legion away while boosting his economy. The Strip is just a foothold to jump start his plans, he tells you himself that he doesn't care about old world values and that he just wants to put humanity back on the path of progress. He'll use his bustling economy to jump start scientific research and other projects. He's not some old world blues druggy hell bent on hiding in some petty casino town.

The people in Freeside don't matter in the short term. They're NCR's problem. NCR caused the issues with the Squatters and the Locals, NCR has the resources to fix them, NCR doesn't do dick about it because NCR doesn't give a shit about Vegas or the Mojave. House doesn't have the resources to go playing selfless humanitarian while two wasteland nations are trying to take the Mojave and everything in it for themselves. He barely has the resources to stop NCR from just taking Vegas as it is.

See, when you're looking at the big picture, sometimes the right thing to do is to consolidate your power and resources and let people suffer until you're in a position to give them a meaningful, longterm solution to their problems.

I usually go with Yes Man or NCR + BoS alliance.

Not the Legion. The NCR, House, and Wild Card all have their upsides and downsides. The Legion is nothing but downsides, and they're doomed to fail in the long term no matter what you do.

How do you feel about mods that add "realistic damage" to New Vegas? I've use a few and they seem to make the game far too easy. If you get the jump on them, they die. If they get the jump on you, you die. It doesn't feel like your stats ever come into play.

Yes-men, realistically it's a shit solution, first because it's not absolutely reliable, secondly because even if you become the King of Vegas until your natural death, when you will be no more, Vegas will just collapse. Of course, you can play the asshole guy and ignore the consequences, but if you want a lont time future for Vegas or the Mojave you can only choose NRC or House.
