It's 15 bucks and you can get 100+ hours out of it.
It's a decent little romp but terraria still shits on it in most every aspect but building, character customizing, and arguably story (if you think any story is better than no story, that is. the story is literally AN ANCIENT EVIL AWAKENS so it's bottom of the barrel. Some okayish lore though)

I personally don't feel jaded about spending the 15 bucks at launch anymore. I do wish they'd push the game further. There's still lots of things they could do to this game.

It's made by talentless cretins so it doesn't matter how many years they polish their turd or add to it.

It's alright. There's some things it does right. Building and exploring the dungeons are pretty fun and well done, but combat is fairly bad and the progression/crafting is super tedious.
The story missions are ok as well, but they don't fit into the rest of the game, so it feels like one is constantly at odds with the other.

They should've kept a tighter focus and work on that.
