I genuinely enjoyed the game when I played it a month ago, and am currently doing that one no-kill run in between other games. Fanbase is pure and utter cancer, but such is life. At least on /v/ there's a semi-decent chance of civil talk about it.

Real talk: the true brilliance of Undertale is how it mechanically represents its theme. If you play the game properly, blindly, without any spoilers, chances are you'll kill someone at some point because you don't realize there's another way. As in, even if you are noble and seek peace, you might not think there's a peaceful resolution and go for the last resort.

Then you discover that you gave up before truly exploring all of the options. That there really WAS another way and you, yourself, not a character but YOU turned to violence too quickly. That has impact.

Then the game ends with a proper fight you really can't avoid no matter how hard you try, saying that sometimes there really is no choice.

i was surprised how shitty metroid was last winter at AGDQ.
