that was on ultra hard mode where you are not allowed to have any auto aim with ranged weapons. It's actually hard as FUCK to hit human enemies with arrows without autoaim whenever they are not standing absolutely still. Even with slo mo, just them doing things like shifting their bodies a little as they draw their bows makes your arrows miss because their hitboxes are so small.

And the spear always does a measly 70 damage with the heavy attack, and only half that with the light attack, so who fucking cares about the lunging / tracking - the attacks barely do anything except to the smallest enemies. Machines such as that big saber cat have like 1000 HP. Even the sneak attack only does a max of like 275 damage. The cat loses way more HP to things like the other machines weak points blowing up nearby from the player hitting them, or from friendly-fire by other machines physical or AOE attacks that are directed at the player. Melee is nothing except to knock them down every ~4th hit.

Overriding one or two giant machines and joining the chaos as they attack everything is great. I found almost all of the weapons to be fun to use except for the rattler. It's just a boring close-range damage-doer / shocker / freezer. Elemental slingshot isn't that great either since it's so much more fun to use the war bow or a fire arrow to shoot a weak point and make it explode in ice / shock / fire to inflicting your status effects. You can even use it to shoot and blow up weak-point components that have already been detached and are just laying on the ground, which you would normally just collect as a resource.

Tearblast arrows kinda suck; the tearblaster is superior, faster, and better on resources. It can destroy enemy projectiles from midair and stun enemies out of their attacks, and instantly breaks off almost any machine component or armor plate in one or two shots. Hardpoint arrows for the standard bow (with some damage + tear + handling mods) are way more efficient too, if you can actually aim. They do lots of regular damage at the same time as ripping off the components, while tearblast arrows do no damage. Tearblast arrows don't even benefit from tear mods.

Bombs are worthless compared to just freezing the enemy and shooting them with high-damage precision arrows. It's like 300 damage per arrow to anywhere on the machine - even to its armor plates (see >>385415151 ). Tripwires are still very good though for their massive damage. But yeah overall the most useful weapon is definitely the sharpshot bow with high-damage precision arrows and some handling mods so you can shoot it fast. You just shoot enemy weak points and the enemy fucking explodes like nothing. One triple-shot explodes the fuel tank of a bellowback from a mile away. Most explosives are just for fun because they look cool.

The most OP thing in the game is just getting stealth mods for your stealth armor and corrupting / overriding every machine so they all just kill eachother while you just watch.

You don't really use a lot of the weapons, do you? I thought that the most useless weapons were the starter bow and the rattler, with the tripcaster being borderline useless with situational use. But the Sharpshooter is good for human fights, the Ropecaster is good for getting machines to fuck off, the elemental arrows good for long range status effects, the bomb lobber for stronger AoE elemental damage, the explosive lobber for sheer power even though it eats Blaze like a motherfucker and the tearblaster. The tearblaster is my favorite when you know what parts to aim for. Try immobilizing a Thunderjaw and using the tearblaster to one-shot its cannons and pick them up for yourself. It's pretty satisfying to use its weapons against it. Basically what I'm saying is that I don't really agree with you. I only found 2 weapons to be underwhelming while the rest saw regular use from me.

I'm playing on ultra hard where all the weapons are gimped to do less damage (IIRC elemental damage-points are halved), and with four mod slots for the adept tripcaster, the explosive version of the weapon does up to about 450 damage and the shock and fire versions can do up to about 200 fire / shock points each. That's enough to immediately inflict stunned or burning status effects on all but the strongest and most resistant machines, and a few explosive blast wires will kill almost anything. For comparison, an explosive trap item (the kind you select like a potion and drop with the down arrow) does about 112 damage, and one that goes off by proximity only does 84. And a shock one only does 75 shock points.

It's pretty easy to use the wires in the middle of a big melee fight too. You just lay one half of the wire anywhere and wait until the perfect time to fire the other half. You can still roll and jump and do whatever while half the wire is plugged into the ground, with you connected to it. Usually you can get it to detonate the moment you fire it if you have good aim, and you can even put it right under your feet and have it detonate immediately without hurting you if you just roll the exact moment after you fire it.

You should try it out more, it is so satisfying to use.

Its fun. Story isn't great and the way the story is told isn't great either. Melee combat is jacked up. And its weird how you can only climb certain things (and if you fall down something in a fight it can be bad).

But its fun. Fighting big robots really does require a plan and it gets very frantic hitting the weak-spots. That aspect really is very nice. Amazing art direction. I wanted to look at everything.
