Aside from specific ones on certain characters, I've found that's not true most of the time. You'll want to always take the CD reduction on Dimension Door on Mozu, for example, but pretty much every upgrade on HK has it's merits and usefulness depending on the enemy team and how you should play against them.

I do too, but it's because I'm not familiar enough with the characters, so I tend to pick stuff that I know work.

It's good to try a few variations too, some upgrades can really change your kit.

It's a joy to just play though. Things feel really good and all the characters feel vibrant and distinct. Some of the balance seems like it's fucked though. With a lack of CC overall, not many characters have hard CC and the CC times are very short with relatively high TTK, it feels like some characters will just run their cocks down your throat. Ramsay seems overtuned; he does way too much fucking damage with how mobile and tanky he is. Tripp has like 3 forms of CC and idiot proof escape mechanisms. The game can feel extremely frustrating when you're playing with idiots, though I imagine Dunning Krueger faggots will be rampant. Bad teammates dying doesn't just get the opponent marginally ahead, you lose the ability to resist deathballing, which is all the game seems to be, the other team gains progress toward a rampage, one where they don't even damage the Guardian is still a huge notch of damage toward a wound and negates any progress you made in the previous phase, AND the enemy team gets more levels on you. Plus, bad teammates fucking up creature placement is a huge headache.

All in all, it's really fun. It just needs to some polish (No push-to-talk is fucking bewildering) and maybe some tweaking to its core mechanics.

After I went back to Paladins after playing this game the most over the past week, I had to question whether something happened in Paladins witht he latest updates because of how it felt kind of stiff and the sounds seemed worse than I remember. I think it's just from getting used to Gigantic having a ton of different sounds though and the general animation and gameplay being smoother despite the 60 FPS cap.

That's an understatement. Honestly if you look at a game like Zelda Breath of the Wild you can see how cel-shading works on character designs that are actually iconic and well thought out. There is no reason we couldn't have got THOSE kind of female designs in this game other than the fact the devs chose to ugly up all the women with shit fashion and/or shit faces.

Maybe i'm just shallow but a game I am expected to play for thousands of hours needs to interest me visually. Her ranged attack tree is fucking shit since it nerfs your damage, you still need to be in melee for your party heal or debuff immunity to work, things that you'll pretty much always have since her Into the Blade's Swift Return tree is bad because if you need to use it to run, it pretty much means that you're already dead anyway.
One of her passives is only useful if you take Into the Blade's Aura of Healing and so on.

I always end up with Will to Power on Terrify, Aura of Healing on Into the Blade, Father's Flame or Reproof on Slash depending on if I took Burning Blade or Cador's Might on Cador's Charge and for Cador's War Cry, either Intimidation or Spectral Lens depending on the enemy's line up.

Yes, there are a few interesting characters but as it has been mentioned there are games with a much higher quantity of interesting and iconic characters in them. That's not really debatable. I legitimately do not get /v/'s hype around this game. I'm not calling shill but this game is so fucking boring. Not only that but it's one of the worst fucking games when it comes to one guy just being able to fuck over your team. Feeding in any other moba might create a snowball effect for an enemy player to become really strong but feeding in Gigantic literally makes you unable to win the game because the enemy team will hit rampage every single time.

The character kits are so bland and this would legitimately be ok if the map design, movement, and objective placement was conducive to technical play but they aren't. A large share of the roster just spends most of their time holding down left click. The UI looks like shit, you can't even upgrade skills without clicking which is obviously a huge problem when you have to aim WITH YOUR MOUSE. The halfway design between a moba and an objective based shooter leaves people like Imani who isn't an effective sniper at all and instead is just some sort of burst mage which leaves that niche just partially filled and completely unsatisfying to play. It's not a horrible game and it looks great. It's just so goddamn dull. You don't feel any sort of power even as an assassin nor do you feel like you have any real sway over how the game is going. You end up just doing the same thing after every rampage, jumping in and out of team fights that most people are only partially dedicated to. And then you just walk up to the enemy guardian and fling some stuff at it from afar and you win.

Nah. I don't have the time or energy to go over them one by one talking about exact proportional, anatomical and color related issues. Most the issues can be summed up simply by pointing out the artists who designed these characters have a fundamental lack of understanding of how and WHY divine proportions are a necessity. They are the universally accepted guidelines artists use in order to create aesthetically beautiful designs that are also responsible for making something iconic and memorable. You CAN bend these rules but many of these designs are inconsistent with one another and also bend the rules too far to the point of breaking them.

A lot of people would refer to this as "tumblr/sjw" style but I don't really like to use that terminology because the baggage that comes with it. However, there are a lot of artists on tumblr who make it their mission in life to rebel against things such as color harmony and divine proportions which is what makes their art rather generic and displeasing to look at. A lot of cartoons on TV are also starting to adopt these kinds of styles unfortunately.

TLDR version: The designs in Gigantic stray too far from divine proportions to be enjoyable to look at by artists like myself. Some of the color combinations are also going against the principles of color harmony. Some of the anatomy is totally fucked as well.

Also the skill tree concept is never a good idea. I can't be assed to spend several hours trying to memorize a single hero's 20 different upgrades so I don't waste time trying to decide between them mid-game. Only to realize that half of them are way worse than the other half anyways.

Also, I can't tell what the fuck other heroes do. There's no indicators that tell you if someone is snared, stunned, slowed, silenced, weakened, grounded, etc. And I can't tell if I have any of thise effects on me (Or maybe there is an indicator but I hust can't see it because the artstyle makes everything look like fireworks in my face)

There are different expectation levels depending on the type of content. No one expects a web comic made in someones free time to have amazing art even though a few manage to do just that. Also, are you really defending Dobson of all people? The guy who told Zelda Williams to "calm thine tits" when she was mourning her dad's death?

The fact is MOBA are like fighting games in terms of people picking mains they want to be and fight as. The characters NEED to resonate with people because people will be using them for years. If this was just some RPG or action game they could get away with the mistakes they've made but it's not. Even in those genres it's preferable to make more iconic characters but a good story or great gameplay in a short 8-15 hour experience could have people overlook mediocre designs.

Because Battleborn's is just terrible design. Characters have retarded giant bodies and tiny heads, and then ayy lmao necks and super skinny bodies. The arm is actually the least of my problems with his design. I'm not sure how I'd go about changing it, but I'd probably get rid of those random scales, change his horns a bit to enable shrinking down his neck a bit and maybe give him an armored collar around it to enforce the 'bruiser' look.

The problem with BAttleborn is their characters are overdesigned garbage to the point of turning people off and being unmemorable. Gigantic, Paladins, Overwatch, TF2. All of these games have character designs that have unique silhouettes and are recognizeable from anywhere. And then the designs come together to have a decent look without being overwhelming to look at.

It's obvious Battleborn went for a BADASS overdesigned art-style on purpose, and it turns out that people avoid doing that for a reason.

The reach on his tongue feels actually ludicrous sometimes. Atleast Tripp takes skill to play, Wufags can literally AFK a short distance outside of spawn and just press E all game and they'd still carry their team to victory.

I've been getting a lot of Margraves recently. Sometimes it would work out so well and the team would actually coordinate, nad then other times it would go so wrong and I'm the only one trying to help him out while the team is fuckin off in a corner.

Margrave is only for super manly high test alphas. As such most of your damage comes from lmb, rmb should only be used to reflect projectiles (this kills the fortified HK). Lunge is for initiating and chasing, while charge is great for escaping (uses no stamina, purges debuffs). I find that if a Tripp or someone engages, then sprints away, you can charge and then lunge and 9/10 times you'll catch up and be able to put your big throbbing demon member elbow deep in their cunt

His lunge has a path that either increases the stun to a 2 second stun or greatly increases the range (and other stuff). His level 5 (clash) skill also can lower the cooldown on it,

RMB can reflect projectiles or if you choose the other path, turns into a high DPS short ranged cone.
Also his Counter path on his left mouse button is better than his AoE slam. His abilities typically give him armor, on top of his high base armor in the first place, but if the enemies have a lot of armor cracking/piercing abilities such as bleed, it's better to build more health.

Margrave is only as good as your team tho, so if the team is ass, Margrave isn't doing much. If you can coordinate with your team, you can basically roll your abilities on them and easily confirm a kill.

The only new things I've found in the roughly 20 hours of playtime is that dodges have i-frames, so you can avoid some burst damage if you're good with it. And seeing the differences in dodge, sprinting, and jumping attacks is kind of nice. I don't know what you guys are looking for when it comes to melee characters though. You don't really play them all the same. You can play Margrave as a reactive counter brawler if you want, since he has an interrupt and weaken or you can just swing your gorilla arms around and pound stuff into dust, whereas Tyto you'll be using his dodge lunges to dance in and out of fights and around damage, carefully managing your stamina, or you play Tripp where you blow all your CDs going into a fight on one person, faceroll your keyboard, and then stealth out.

I don't know what you're looking for though.

Okay. Margrave's 4th hit feels like it's smashing fools. Reinhardt's hammer's perceived weight is probably a combination of hitstop and OW's TTK being low. Swing his hammer against a wall and it doesn't feel like anything. It feels like your swinging a paper fan across a surface. It can feel like you're doing nothing with it too if an Ana is heal bursting whatever you're smacking with it. Feels pretty bad to land two hammer swings on a Genji and he still swords you to death because he swings so much faster.

None of this has anything to do with the previous complaints of melee character gameplay though, just "game feel," if we're going to borrow a buzzword lately.

At low levels, sure. When melee combat consists almost entirely of people just mashing their faces into each other and holding left click. But because your movespeed is slowed when holding left click, it's really easy for people just disengage or back up and wait for cooldowns if you're just holding the button down. Those people could have avoided it by not being retards. And I can tell you don't know how to play since you think they couldn't escape that. The frog in the video literally jumps into the air and goes further into their spawn instead of using his mobility to escape. You can also counter people sprinting with your lunge attack, and a number of characters have skills that affect the enemy's movement for people to intercept them. A melee character can also use their stamina, momentum, and lunge attack to escape if they actually move properly.

But you probably don't know anything about stamina management, using lunges, or how to chase down someone, yet you're here trying to judge the combat system in the game before you've understood it. /v/ in a nutshell.

The "even perfect management won't help you for shit" is completely wrong though, but yes, it is better to intertwine escape mechanics with the main movement mechanics. People being able to escape on death's door through measured use of a resource is what's happening in both situations; stamina in one and flash in the other, but one is something that is constantly used throughout the game at all times while the other is only available every five minutes.

Pvp 5s is League clone but has no items, creeps hardly matter and everything is objective based meaning most people don't lane and it's 2 or 3 man squads.

The Clash thing isn't true. It's just that you can't autowound on the last wound. If the Clash happens after 5 rounds of back and forth and a guardian still has more than one wound left, it can autowound.
