How about adding a timer to invasions? If it runs out before either the invader or host dies, then the invader dies and the host also dies. If the host is too close to a bonfire, they don't leave a bloodspot and cannot recover their souls. In this way, both players would be incentivized to actively seek out the enemy player. The lack of the bloodspot discourages hosts from just camping close to a bonfire waiting to die and get an easy recovery.

I run into the scenario, from both sides, where you just sit and wait forever. That's boring for me as the invader, and boring for me as the host.

The invader would still lose their souls as normal since they die. I get that most invaders just sit there and invade without having any, but if they're invading in the first place, they don't need much incentive to go attack the other player. Maybe add a curse or something for an invader that dies via timeout.

This. It just feels like a waste of time to me. I literally just disconnect or walk off a cliff when I get invaded because that's usually faster than bothering with an invader. I want to make fun PvE builds and play the game as a sorcerer, guy that only uses whips, or other stuff. Minmaxing for PvP fights is boring and too samey since you pretty much always need to have pretty specific gear/weapons unless you want to be at a significant disadvantage.

I've done low level twinking and had one guy message me pissed off saying he had to remake a new character because I destroyed all his gear and he didn't have enough souls to repair it all.

Dark Souls 2 levels are so fucked design wise for invasions it shows how much thought they put in the game, when you can spawn in locked rooms the host hasn't unlocked or get blocked by enemies that the host must kill or aggro in order for you to pass, and you can do the same thing in dark souls 3 = run to the enemies, even if they seed you you are still at an advantage. The same thing as in dark souls 2. Get better.

I don't know about 3, but people did this in 2 and IIRC it was shit like weapons upgraded past their intended point (Estoc +12, for example). Pick it up and equip it, your game will crash eternally unless you edit your save to remove it.

I dunno dude. I feel the faster pace and overreliance on rolling is what makes Dark Souls 3's PvP unpleasant and uninteresting, and I'm not sure that can or should be fixed because the PvE isn't bad, and that's the main part of the game. Player attitude is also a problem: I'm fed up with those people who play invasions as honorable duels instead of being dicks.

P2P system is also cancer.

Beat the servers with a wrench so they go back to the good days of DS1, where you 9/10 times won't be able to summon a host if you're invaded, so you better git gud or die.

But really, it's a combo of bloodbornes fluid combat and healing while moving + estes amount that breaks it. There are several independent remedies, and parts of them can be interchanged and combined.

1. No one has any flasks. Only healing spells/ humanity. Wanna win that badly? gotta burn resources.

2. PvP waits, que's, and sends multiple invaders together if host has phantoms, at the very least if its 2+ phantoms. Waiting for help outside of a few areas isn't an option, and using mobs to back you up results in pussy hosts sitting at bonefire with their phantoms and seeding, or at the point of 3 players just bulldozing through to level towards you. You need to be particularly good or them bad to win.

3. Invaders get estus replenished if host summons more help. Or, From could not be cunts and actually prevent phantom summons altogether once invaded.

4.D/C'ing is now tracked, and after a fixed (but not large) amount of mid-pvp dc's you get banned from online for some time. It resets when you return, and ban intervals gradually increase. Die fairly online, or play offline. Sorry if your internet is ass, but it can't be that bad, can it?

If they're going to keep this "Every time you invade the host has three whites and a blue" shit going on in 3, then they need to make it where another red can come in for every two phantoms the host has at least. I'm usually pretty good at souls PvP but there comes a point where the i-frames cease to protect you when you're getting waylaid in a small space by three ultra-weapons.

I enjoy the PvP in 3 well enough but the last part is what chapped my ass the most from 2 to 3. I loved being able to be primarily melee but have some pyromancy flexibility for utility and mix-ups. I could do that in 2. 3 makes all hybrid builds other than maybe STR/FAI into barely functioning memes.

I always liked doing and encountering people who came up with creative character builds and invaded in unique locations and use the various tools like Aural Decoy, Fall Control, Chameleon, Hush, Hidden Weapon, ect in interesting ways or just acted in nontraditional ways or found crafty ways of hindering your progress by making difficult areas more challenging or by using lesser known items or weapons with odd effects that most people haven't seen or used. Those are the memorable invasions.

I never gave a shit about a single min-max honor duel faggot. Which after Souls really took off and went mainstream and the hurr so hard shit took over is all you ever seemed to get. I was there for the novelty and the atmosphere, but it seemed like most of the audience quickly became teenagers with something to prove with their only reason for playing the game being validation from their peers. So when Dark Souls got it's DLC and there was a combat arena I was hoping that it would funnel all faggots that only play the game for PVP honor duels to those areas and the general quality of my invasions would increase but that never really happened because they never really made that arena that honor dueling faggots wanted.

If there was just like a separate mode for honor dueling queers, where you could just build a character and select any weapons you wanted and it tracked their statistics so they could show off to their friends maybe that would leave regular invasions for people who actually wanted to have fun with it and wanted to do something creative with it. I dunno. How do you mechanically reward creative invasions?

I run a miracle build as a weird support healer for invasions and co-op. The only thing you're missing is your "Super Move" but I could argue that if you all your buffs and your strongest attack that would count as a "Super Move" of sorts.
