I both love and hate Ankama. Wakfu and Dofus have a great foundation with great art, fun atmosphere, and two good cartoons. But Ankama fucking squanders it with the terrible online games. Wakfu and Dofus are both miserable to play in their current states, but everything around them is amazing. I wish I could wrestle the IPs from them and give them to better companies for making games.

Pretty much this.

Their world, lore, characters, and races are ALL unique and amazing. Everything in the world is colorful and lush, with interesting creatures and lore and shit. The cartoon makes the world feel alive, in the best sort of way. It's clear Ankama loves the franchise as much as the fans. The women are hot too

All of their games however, besides being a maximum of 100 players online at all times (and for MMO's thats pretty fucking terrible), did their best in the long run. Seriously. For a french meme game, they really couldnt do any better. It's a surprise it's still alive. Both of them. It's not that they're bad games, it's just a niche market. Name another Tactical-RPG MMO in the market that isnt a 1v1 matchmaking system. Even if you could, that market is NOT a profitable one, no matter how perfect you make it.

The problem with their MMOs is, they're not f2p.

I played both Dofus (with members of a private Ragnarok server) and Wakfu (with /co/) in the 00s. But, while I was certainly having some fun with them because I like SRPGs and a SRPG MMO, in my opinion, fits, it still wasn't enough to have me shell out, so once I was ready to move on to a different area and the game asked for a card, I quit it and went back to replay FFTA or whatever. And the same can be said for 99% of the people in my private RO server and /co/ Wakfu threads.

It would be much more popular if it had a payment system similar to Tree of Savior.

Oh also I played wakfu when it was still in beta/alpha whatever you name it, the game kept changing radically while they were trying different things. Tons of fun, I don't know how it is now but back then, there were so many things to craft, it was incredible.

I remember I asked an online friend to help me level my int Iop to lvl 60 for Strength Storm, but when I got there, I realized that I didn't enjoy the play style, so I deleted him. My friend never talked to me again after that.
