Wrecking Ball was a talent for warriors for a long as time that's changed a lot over the years, and every fucking cinematic with Garrosh is in has him wrestling and throwing people around.

Devastate is a prot warrior ability AND part of his encounter his encounter in Orgrimmar was Whirlwind, so put these two together and BAM, you've got a new skill that makes homage to BOTH.

He also had Shockwave, so instead of making it a boring ass conal stun, they made it into a neat skillshot and reposition which fits with the throw and his many slows.

I dunno, after Malthael and Stukov, two guys with pretty interesting kits, Garrosh feels a bit meh.
The only real neat thing is the person throwing. I guess a less complex character isn't necessarily a problem, he is miles better than D.Va.
My only issue is that his other skin is trash, I was hoping for his Northrend outfit.

I think the actual reasoning wasn't the fact that Garrosh was some kickass guy, it was more that Y'Shaarj was merely a single organ of his old body, and over the course of the expansion, especially Garrosh tampering with it and stealing so much of it's power, dragged what little power it had too thin.
I am pretty sure he basically killed it by taking the last bit of it's power away.
