I would've said Natural selection, but it's multiplayer and dead.
There is also Poke646, that I remember.
Don't go on moddb for hl1 mods. Most were deleted or lost in time. Go to hlportal and go through the hl1 sp mods with high rating.

And thanks for the website reccomendation. I know the golden age of modding is pretty much gone, especially a sea of dead multiplayer mods. My first introduction to modding was BF1942 with mods like Desert Combat, Forgotten Hope, that pirate one that was dumb fun, and a bunch more.

Yup the good old days. I spent an entire summer playing a CS mod that started one player out as a zombie that could only walk with a knife and when he stabbed someone they became zombie. The lights were dimmed a lot and when players got turned their character would scream the scientist screaming sound effect super loudly. Players would all huddle in hard to reach areas and try to kill the zombie before it could reach them but if just one player got turned they would immediately turn around and stab the guy next to them creating a domino effect of screaming. Jumping off the roof of the building at midpoint on cs_siege with tons of screaming going on behind you in the darkness was intense.

Also supertank maps were always fun for a minute.

Check out the GFL server for Zombie Escape on Counter Strike Source. Fucking best communuty. Usually around 30 to 64 players at any given time, and most of the vocal regulars are real characters. The maps are well made and the shitposting and the lols are abundant.

Was never said or implied by any game, but we can atleast just go along with counter strike 1.6 to condition zero being inside the hl universe since they don't interefere. Same goes for team fortress classic. Both of these games are set before or around the resonance cascade. But certeinly not TF2, because of the lore (with the australium and australia being a superpower and all) and CS:GO being set in a time after the resonance cascade (based on the equipment being used by ct and t for example.

Check out the Half-Quake series. Three HL1 mods where you play as a dude involved in a sick obstacle course for some cackling unseen dickheads. The first one has the original Half-Life 1 + Quake 1 aesthetic, but its sequels Amen and Sunrise are really something to behold. Note: A SHITTON of trial and error gameplay here. It's the whole point.

It has some great highs but terrible lows. Also doesn't help that the GoldSrc engine is creaking under the wait of it. The limited inventory was more of a hindered then a mood maker and jumping puzzles like climbing out of the train where made incredibly difficult thanks to the wonky collision physics. Overall it had great atmosphere though. The school was my favorite part.

That just lets people act like retards without the need to co-op. There's no tension in that, no need to be careful. Just mindlessly completing map after map with zero strategy.
