The server is absolute dog shit. The anti cheat it installs is a botnet. The gameplay is absolutely terrible. You can make cute girl characters if thats your thing though.

just started playing about a week and a half ago, already bored from it, only log in for an hour or so, get up a level or two and log out. it looks really nice, but after hitting lvl 20 and realizing its just doing the same combo every couple seconds running around pulling mobs, it gets boring. if you like the mindless grind, go for it.

it's basically runescape, but with fewer jobs (still enough) and each job having a goal, like fishing to make money to build a boat to go out to the open sea to fish.
that whole economy/profession aspect of the game is pretty chill and fun to do.
guilds are a nice feature.
the combat is fun and interactive and classes play quite different from another.
the bad things are that PvP is an endgame thing, and you do have to do a bunch of grinding, but that grinding is kinda okay.
everything gives you exp and even shit like fishing and hunting comes with okayish interactive minigames.
don't expect too much group content though, except for grinding levels around level 50 i didn't see any reason to group up with other people.
there are world bosses though that will have huge amounts of players.
oh and i guess you can group up for PvP and guild PvP.
and i guess it looks nice.
it's not as pay2win as other people would like you to think but there are paid costumes that give you slight stats advantages that you can't get otherwise.

You'll go up to Level 49 quickly enough. Not a single enemy will even remotely be a threat.
You choose to access Level 50+ (activating PvP which nobody engages in, you'll only get ganked when you're AFK or ganged up on during a Node War) and the 50+ NPCs still don't really challenge you.
The only PvE thing might actually kill you are the periodically spawning world bosses that aren't actually dangerous or anything, they just randomly oneshot you no matter your class or armor level while two thirds of the server punches it in the ass until it dies.

Besides that, it's an idle game disguised as an MMO.
Your NPC workers passively collect resources.
You buy some random Trade items from one town and Auto-Run to another town to sell them, playing something else on the side during the several minutes of uneventful travel.
You can literally hold Mouse1, Mouse2, W, F, R, Space or whatever keys and your character will automatically cycle through a number of their skills, effortlessly mowing through hundreds of enemies without you even paying attention.
You log in every day to get your daily stipend and Daily reward and maybe do some Daily Repeatable Quests.

The servers are low quality as fuck, PvP is a joke and it probably explains why PvE is so easy, otherwise you'd be getting hit several seconds after something attacks you.
The game (for me) crashes frequently enough for it to be a pain in the ass, especially when you're traveling and streaming in shit on the horizon. You're best off looking at the Map screen to prevent those crashes.

The best part is the character creator.

Honestly you will never find out how to do things efficiently on your own. Joining some sort of guild with a long term plan is the best, because this game requires you to have EVE-tier knowledge to play somewhat efficiently.

This is about the bare minimum you'll want to have.

Playing without the 30% marketplace price bonus puts you considerably behind everyone else. It also means you can't do a LOT of things others do to make money. IE: Processing, Relic Scrolls, etc

REALLY depends on the class. Some are truly brain dead: Witch, Wizard, Warrior, DK for PvE. Even the others become braindead for PvE once you get down all the cancels, rotations, etc.

PvP is a whole other monster and requires knowledge of every other class to succeed (as is with all MMOs really). It also requires you to know which of your abilities are safe, which give you iframes, superarmor, frontal armor, etc. When to block/grab if your class has it. There's a lot going on in the game once you start doing Node Wars that is mostly irrelevant in grinding (Which is really too bad, PvE is not exciting. I look to it more as farming silver than grinding levels)

To put this into perspective for anyone that is interested. You can sell 5 costumes ($175) a week in BDO. That's 175mil/wk. A top tier weapon costs 1bil silver and never goes on the market. Also, you can easily make 50mil/day just being AFK. Or easily 150mil+ grinding in addition to that.

It's not worth the $ to buy and sell on the marketplace. That's why hardly anyone does it and it's difficult to buy pearl items on the MP.

It really depends on how much of an extreme in gear difference we're talking, also level. It also depends on the classes. Some classes require much less gear in order to exceed.

If we're talking a level 56 with 250gs vs a 60 with 500gs, then yes. the 500gs character can be a fucking moron and you'll have no chance. They've also put in probably 100x the amount of time in the game as you, so expecting to beat them is ridiculous.

Black Desert is just pretty with terrible optimization that makes it look like crap in motion. The combat is mediocre at best for an action game, especially an action mmo. There is nothing to this game. Its fun combat but because there is nothing actually hard or challenging it gets old very quick.

It throws away its best feature (combat) to the side in favor of terrible pve grind. There should be arenas with equal gear or proper gear limited tiers with scoreboard ladders to climb. There should be challenging pve content with things to dodge, kite, attacks to time your blocks/super armors with.

Instead of utilizing the options for skilled combat the devs put into the game themselves, they hand you braindead content that a child could complete.

The goal of this game is too break you mentally, to force you to buy things to make the grind easier, everything that you dislike is made with that intention. Rng, grind, and gear based pvp are there to convince you to buy duam cash.

The actual game is just the rat race in video game form. Competition is based on who was the biggest moron willing to do what hes told, to jump through the idiotic hoops it asks you to do. Wake up, do the mob grind for hours, dont forget to afk lifeskill while at work/school and use a desktop remote to process/feed workers while away, never stop thinking about the grind, the magical day you will get your gear.

The point is to keep bdo on your mind every hour of every day, you are running for the "pearl abyss dream" the tet/pen gear, the perfect pvp, and the white picket fence. Yet when you finally get there you will find it hollow and shallow, you will either keep playing due to sunk fallacy and convince yourself its a good game or sell your account.

You're right the BDO dream is fucking shallow as fuck. No matter how far you get you always have that next piece of gear on your mind, and it really doesn't mean shit to anything in the end. The gear in the end becomes dwindling upgrades that are so minute that they could ruin your whole gear for an extra point. It's fucking stupid on all levels. You gotta live it practically, you get up check your marketplace see if listings sold check to make sure your value pack is running then collect money, ride 30 minutes to grind spot, set up storage and horses, find grind spot, people in grind spot, don't want to start a fight so change channel, person in grind spot, fight, win get grind spot for 10 minutes they come back karma bomb, lose do the karma bomb or change channel out of bitterness. Finally get free grind spot. Grind as long as possible interruptions usually every couple hours from pvp karma bombing, end the day in frustration if pvp every hour, end the day in frustration when you spent your haul for the day failing enchants, a sigh of relief if you get one piece of gear enchanted once without breaking 90% of your gear. After this day is done, empty inventory, set up fishing spot. Leave BDO on in the background fishing overnight to make money after making sure workers are well fed and placed on proper nodes.

This is the very definition of fucking insanity. I'm glad I fucking escaped. The worst part is people consider this to be the peak mmo.

This game is pretty awful, only found one of the classes playable, which would be fine. I did actually really like the class too.

But for a crafting and economy based game not being able to craft yourself (aside from cooking) and instead sending minions to do it in facebook micromanagement style is absolutely shit tier. It would be amazing if you could do that AND make the items yourself, but nope. You craft beer to keep them awake so they can make your stuff. What rubbish.

You can only do pvp at 65.
All that matters is how you set your skill build.
Gear is entirely equalized. There is pvp gear in this current patch, but you can do nothing but pvp to get it and it's still only for it's secondary effect to boost attack speed and movement speed the stats on it don't apply except for PVE. So it's basically poorman pve gear with pvp flair for extra movement speed.
There is ranked and free match with 1v1, team battles, avatar wars( this is like a moba protect your mobs while fighting players) and capture the flag.

65 takes about 4 days of casually leveling about 2-3 hours a day going area to area.
PVP gear takes a few days to get depending on how good you can do the arena. Otherwise it's not actually a big deal since it does fuck all in reality, there's only three pieces and you're most likely to get a piece a day from serious grinding.

PVE is actually good and you'll find yourself grouping up often to make the content harder for better drops and money, as well have an easier time trying to deal with the boss. Endgame recently went through a big patch coming out of OBT that made everything much more difficult to get higher geared people to work together. The combat is pretty satisfying. I've played Warrior at 56 and Striker at 58. Both have totally different styles.

When I don't feel like actually playing I'll just AFK process or fish. And then when I want to play again I'm ready to go again. I can take it at my own pace. I also outlasted the people who got me into this game.
