It was a good bit better than the original fight, but it should've kept the aspect of constantly advancing on the DJ while having previous mechanics like sponges, invisble paths, etc appearing

Background was great, dialogue was somewhat good, Bomb Rush Blush was a decent song, but Tidal Rush and Spicy Calamari Inkantation were pretty good. The final phase was fun but really needed Octobot King II throwing more attacks out than just the punches and spin punches. Where are the damn missiles or giant octo bomb thing wearing sunglasses.

If I were to rate Octobot King II, I'd say 6.5/10

I know the fight itself isn't exactly incredible, I know it's just nostalgia baiting, but it did catch me off guard. I mean, it'd been five years since DS1. A lot had changed since then for me, and it did hit home. I actually lost focus and got killed, but before I went back into the fight I switched to offline mode and turned off my HUD which made the experience quite special.

The FFXIV fight against Bahamut has to be one of the most climactic fights in a very long time.

True, Exponential Entropy was pretty chill as a whole, but you still have the whole DAAA DAA DAA DA DDAAAAAAAA bit in the middle before it winds up to the "falling back right into the system" refrain which is a little grating.

Lol at the first one. Most overrated final boss in the history of video games. Once you get past the emotional aspect of it (which just gets ruined later by the twist), you will realize that it's a very clunky and slow fighting mini-game.

I had played a LOT of RPGs by the time 7 came out, and seeing Square take my favorite franchise into 3D with fmvs and that musical score, in what is undeniably a good game, left a lasting impression on me.

Ultimately these things are to some degree subjective. I've played VI more often, and for more hours than VII, but on my list VII is a better game because it set the standard for a new age of RPGs.

Well it was more tied in arena. I liked the Octobot King II arena but it really needed the aspect of returning mechanics from earlier levels. I'd imagine the second phase where Octobot King went higher could've used Industrial Squee-Gs for the height boost and moving platform you direct around the arena

I sold it to my cousin for $55, so I basically rented it. I'm not surprised by the single player, but expected a lot more to be new in MP, and salmon run just isn't worth playing for.

I was really hoping that the first one was a little shallow because they weren't sure, and that this would be the game that splatoon was meant to be.

I'm triggered because Squareenix has no idea what made the FF franchise great, and this has never been more evident than in XV. It's not a worse game than XIII, but it's further away from Final Fantasy. The franchise is in the wrong hands, and all the people who bought it and 1 hour in said, "what the fuck IS this?" still counted towards it's "success" so they'll never know they're killing their franchise until it's too late.

Would it? In either case you're just holding down a button for the vast majority of fights. By jrpg standards FF has typically had fairly weak combat systems without a ton of challenge post NES games. Again I like the series, but I don't think the combat systems are really why.

the thing is that XV's combat by design is supposed to be an action like (something akin to Dragon's Dogma) but ends up being more braindead than DmC's combat.
