I tried playing it but I kept on getting lost.
I unironically enjoyed the combat more than P3 and 4
Still, it's pretty average. Dungeons are mazes and the map spell is fucking ass. The ending is anticlimatic and the Law/Neutral/Chaos thing could have been done better.
Still a truly amazing game for the SNES era.
For me it's basically impossible to play after having played the newer games.
Zio: The game.
But really. I never beat it. It's not that I didn't like it. But at the time I wasn't used to first person dungeon games.
Great setting and awesome ideas but it's watered down with bad combat. Also I don't really care for magnetite.still better than most rpgs though

I liked it but the encounter rate is ridiculous!
Exploring areas like Ginza and the final area is insane. I also got a gameover very early because i encountered fucking fiend who has 0,0000000000001% chance of appearing.
Story was interesting and the sountrack grows on you. Probably the only game where i used Auto-Battle most of the time.
>>385353120
Encounter rate is utterly insane to the point where sometimes it breaks and you get no random battles until you reset the console. Other than that, its a fantastic game.
I fucking love it, but I like Kyuu better
Dropped at the final dungeon because I got bored I guess.
Great game, amazing soundtrack and the best setting in the series.
Still need to play II but I don't feel like now.
Game was fine until I got to Ginza/Post Nuke
Fucking encounter rate SKYROCKETED
Exploiting the Buy/Sell glitch to get the second strongest game was fun
Clunky as hell and not very fun to play but I still liked it a lot.
>>385353120
too easy, dont even need demons, just get stun or charm bullets and autobattle everything
It's better than every single SMT game to come after it save persona, and that's only because I tend to be very forgiving on the first game in a series because I believe that they'll fix the problems as they move on.They didn't. They just made the shit look prettier.
>>385353120
It was okay, little dated though
Has a great story but is unfortunately plagued with boring gameplay and no sense of direction.
>>385353120
+ Setting. Loved the urban fantasy vibes of the game. Mixing occult with tech was a cool idea.
+It's an edgy Pokemon
+Even though its cheesy, I enjoyed the use of gods, demons, angels, and other creatures.
+Status effects and spells feel legitimately useful and thus battles feel more strategic and rewarding
-The characterization is paper thin to non-existent
-The game expects an unreasonable amount of inorganic guess work from the player at times.
-The names eventually grew on me, but there was no reason to have stupid shit names for spells. Maybe the others made more sense in Japanese, but Agi was the only spell I could immediately associate with its corresponding function.
What >>385353552 is true too. SMT II alone is a massive improvement mechanically.
Some of the best atmosphere found in an SNES RPG.
>>385353120
Best music of the series
Best atmosphere of the series
Playing both before and after the nuclear apocalypse is fun
Pascal best doggo
The PSX/iOS versions are very playable and have great quality of life improvements over the shittiness of the snes, and the ios is translated.

The setting is really what drives the game. No other SMT game quite captures that same feeling of SMT1/2.
>>385355457
I felt like SMT2 was a bit less due to the world map being wireframe-ish but nothing else comes close because of how good the music in 1 and 2 is at setting the games.
I literally JUST BEAT Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei.
About to start this as I play my way through the entire megaten series.
Please tell me this game has Estoma.
MT1 and 2 don't, and the encounter rates are insane.
By the end of MT1 and 2, I didn't even need demons. My 2 humans were so strong they killed everything in a 1-2 turns.
>>385353120
It can be pretty slow and clunky, and it's too easy to cheese the enemies with spells and bullets. The plot is pretty bare bones.
I don't really understand where this sudden popularity has come from.
The thing I hope the most about SMT HD is that you spend 1/3 of the game at a "normal" Tokyo and only at 2/3 of the game Tokyo get destroyed just like in SMT I.
I tried SMT2 but couldnt really get into it.
Loved loads of other SMT games.
>>385355857
They do have estoma, and it's pretty much essential. Bosses give you enough exp that you can skip most random encounters and still be at a good level.

SMTII > MTII > SMT > shit > MT
How good are the original MT I & II?
and I mean the originals, not the remake, are they worth playing or is the remake superior in every way?
Nocturne > II > I > IV:A > IV
>>385357652
Originals have better music but other than that Old Testament is a straight upgrade. Plus, the Famicom versions aren't even translated.
More specifically, MT1 is super experimental but also pretty bad. Dungeon design is bland and the difficulty is not well-balanced. MT2 is far better, a bit better than SMT1 imo, but still shows its age at points.

How can Kurohaneco's art be so cute but give me such raging boners?
>>385359295
Who knows?
Its a game I really want to get into cause i love persona and SMTIV. But its a bit tough to sink myself into. I need to sit down on double speed for the battles or something I think
>>385353120
tedious slog, but a fun one. I've beaten it 3 times.
>>385353120
Which version should I play?
hehehey kids wanna gets some demons
>>385362306
Playstation if you read moon, otherwise the newer SNES translation.
