Kazuhira, no question. Speaking as a huge fan of Ocelot, Kaz had nothing but the best intentions for both Naked Snake and Venom Snake (until the prior betrayed him), and was a good man at heart. As Venom, Ocelot sold you out from the very beginning, manipulated you, and has put you at risk several times over in the game. In Phantom Pain, Ocelot's only good as the voice of reason and the guy who makes rescuing Quiet an option. Kaz is bro-tier, and it is tragic that he only stays your friend out of resentment when he learns the truth about BB's schemes.

Well to be fair what's revealed in the tapes in the end means he wasn't totally on your side whatsoever, he was totally on Big Boss's side.
It just happened that helping Venom was in BB's interests throughout the entire game.
If that revelation actually happened on screen rather than in some shit audio tape after the game it would have been fine.
Ocelot has no character development whatsoever in it and barely even clashes with Miller other than being a bit unhappy sometimes about what's going on.
All he does is exist as the helpful man who knows about shit but he hardly actually does anything noteworthy.
His character in general feels really out of place with the rest of the series, and that's not because he's being 'normal' in this game.

Nah I don't think so at all. It's obvious from all the gay shit he does throughout 4 that he treats Snake like an equal now and sees him as BB's successor.
I think he was happy to let him walk away because he knew his own time was up.
He fucks Snake up again in the cutscene before the final battle starts and I feel his whole tone beforehand suggests he knows it is his last fight.
He also would have known BB would be waking up elsewhere and that he'd want to speak to Snake.

I might be grasping at straws but firstly Ocelot was still pretty healthy whereas MGS4 BB is a Frankenstein's Monster of parts of Liquid and Solidus so I doubt he was in particularly good condition compared to Ocelot.
Also Ocelot constantly using the nano-machine suppressor may have helped somehow but that's speculative.

I'm just going to throw this out there, but I don't think Japanese media has lost anything due to their prejudice whereas I'm sure we can say that nearly every example of the use of unorthodox sexual preferences has never ever contributed anything meaningful to western media.
