Because it casualized an already casual game. No matter what people say, it's a TF2 clone. Except they took out everything that made TF2 difficult. Instead of characters being fast, speed is an ability which is locked behind a cooldown. Instead of maps with several chokepoints, each map has one big chokepoint. Instead of pushing with uber, each character has their own super special ability to break through the line. Instead of flanking, the meta involves playing as 6 no matter what. The list goes on.

We had this thread yesterday, you even admitted that you have a high mmr which increased que length. Why not just tell us what nerf/buff you hate so much?

The meta is just retarded right now. Winston and D.Va have become the meta because they don't have to aim and their shield abilities are too efficient. Every other character has to aim projectiles and watch their ammo while these two just put up their shields and hold left click to kill you.

D.Va can 1v1 any dps by flying towards you, absorbing their shots then mowing them down while they reload. Winston just holds down left click and drops a shield between him and you. Even soldier gets taken out by Winston if he doesn't have his heal off c.d. They can even fly/jump towards pharah in the fucking sky and deal ~100 damage as they fall. And the sniper classes are unplayable because of these two. And if they get into trouble they both have a "gotta go fast" escape on a 5s cooldown or they use their shields to effortlessly block all damage.

Theyre super fucking annoying to kill and their ults let them reset their health pools. D.Va's ult makes you have to kill her twice, and Winston's makes you have to kill him three times. D.Va can even use her ult AFTER YOU KILL HER MECH. And again, while a dps has to hit all of his shots to kill them, they only have to stand near you and hold down LMB. No other tank has the mobility or versatility to combat them, making them a must-pick.

Aside from the tanks, Mercy is also a huge problem. Her rezerection ult has a huge radius and the 2 seconds of invincibility allows her to counter successful team fights. It's 6v6 but if you don't kill Mercy you just wasted all your ults. How many games are decided by Heroes Never Die to all the rezzed guys blowing their ults. Not having a mercy on your team is an incredible disadvantage right now.

So basically, OW has 3 low-skill, high efficiency characters that are boring to play but give you a huge advantage over a team that doesn't choose them. Hero select might as well be called "Would you like to win or lose?". Shit game, don't play it competitively.

Blizzard games in the past achieved incredible longevity by appealing to market segments who didn't have many games to play, namely MacOS and Linux users where they officially supported MacOS when most companies didn't, and tacitly supported Linux by using standards and not banning Wine users.
Since those users had nothing else to play they'd keep playing the Blizzard games for years, and those users friends would play with them because those games had really low requirements and were fun.

Fast forward to today, MacOS and Linux users have a much larger choice of games in the past. Overwatch isn't available to them either natively or through compatibility software while its primary competition has lower system requirements and is available on every platform.
Through a combination of Blizzard being much more anal about compatibility layers than in the past and abandoning standards using a single-platform solution that isn't yet wrapped or re-implemented they locked themselves out of a key segment of their market.
Windows users and Console players have a huge selection of flavor of the month games and aren't going to form the core of a long term audience as reliably as the neglected markets. Mac and Linux users aren't still playing this game, and their friends aren't playing either.

If Blizzard wants the game to live they should port it to Vulkan+SDL, get it running on GNU/Linux, and then ports to Switch (native API is Vulkan based) and MacOS (no native Vulkan, but MoltenVK compatibility layer exists for ease of porting), and look at getting it running on ARM Vulkan since the next-gen Raspberry Pi is likely to have a Vulkan capable GPU and should be capable of handling Overwatch, not to mention the Android market.
