How do you genuinely feel about the current state of the industry?

PC + PS4 + Switch master race. Xboner fans are too poor to build a PC, all their good exclusives are on Windows.

The state of gaming has plenty of issues but there are lots of great games if you can weave through the garbage and avoid the console war trap.

2017 has been a great year for gaming thus far

I have a PS4 and love it. It literally has everything I need. I am always surprised that so many people give it shit.

I only play JRPGs so I'm mostly fine with it, I haven't bothered to play other genres anymore. Though I kind of think that new JRPGs these days are getting to become stale too, or rather its been happening for a while now and I'm only realizing it since I'm playing more JRPGs then before. I only own a PS4, haven't had a reason to buy the Switch or Xbone yet.

Considerably improved over last gen, thank God Sony is in charge again.

I switched from PS4 to Xbox after the scorpio announcement and couldn't be happier. The Xbox One is so much better and offers so much bang for your buck it's not even funny. Still keeping PS4 around for the odd exclusive.

Pretty good actually, especially with how EA is handling free DLC in Titanfall 2 and hopefully Battlefront 4.

Steam is getting filled with anime porn but that's easy to filter out and there's fantastic indie/small studio games coming out almost on a monthly basis.

The anger and dissatisfaction tends to come from some weird false sense of loss. It's always been a normie hobby. Pacman had a hit song, Mario had his own movie and SMB3 was first shown in a movie. Zelda was a cereal. There was a Saturday morning cartoon all about Nintendo. FFVII had commercials in hot prime time slots. Fucking Aerosmith made a game when they were still relevant.

Nobody is taking games from you because it never belonged to you. Arguing they get easier and dumber doesn't hold water either. They have from the beginning. Game over states were wiped out over 20 years ago. Fucking Doom didn't even have it because you could save anytime. There are games back on NES where you can't die. And if you hold story accountable then you're wrong again. For every Deus Ex there are literally 200 games where you walk right and jump or shoot.

It's toxic by design. Trolls, flamers, and griefers are considered part of everything that is video games... and games that do not both cater to them and take steps to combat them are considered failures. Companies tolerate toxic communities in the name of profit (MOBA, FPS, RPG, Sports as the most serious offenders) and in some cases like Blizzard actively stoke the flames to bring them in.

All the multiplats plus nintendo and sony exclusives. Sounds fine to me.

I stopped caring about gaming after the sixth generation when DLC and early access and preorder exclusives and other marketing tactics took over the creative process and transformed the industry into a scamming contest. Some games are even shipped with on-disc DLC content that you have to pay to unlock.

I don't care what happens to the industry at this point. I'm perfectly content to continue playing sixth-generation games and earlier.
