Probably the only hard FF.
Just make everyone a red mage until you get the second Crystal.
You can grind shit mobs for job levels if you want new jobs to catch up.
Hope you have Save States for that final dungeon.

>Dungeons while Mini'd
Literally the worst part of the game. I only replayed this game once because of this. I hate the mini dungeons. It's so boring and tedious. It's never hard, just not fun in the slightest.
>>
>>385300619
a reasonably challenging game with a huge difficulty spike halfway through then a fuck-off final boss that you will die to and have to re-do the entire final dungeon several times
>>
>>385300969
>Hope you have Save States for that final dungeon.
I'd never have finished this game if I didn't realize my DS flashcard had a savestate feature.
Like, the dungeon and the bosses aren't even hard. The game making you climb the crystal tower all the way down and back up just to save after a boss is bad design. And you can't just do all the bosses in a row because you will die to one of them due to bullshit RNG.

I actually did that all in one try thinking that I would eventually get to some sort of save point. Wasn't expecting to win, but at that point I had a party of 2 ninjas and 2 sages with some powerful magic and tons of fuma shurikens.

Oh btw monk is the most broken class in the game all the way up until you unlock black belt at almost the end of the game, but even then you have to grind up the job level for it to surpass the monk since by that time your monk will be around max job level and black belt won't surpass monk for a long time. Honestly it's hardly worth it unless you want to do the optional super boss.

My whole party was dead except for Ignus who was a ninja and I had him throw one of the few shuriken i had because I knew he was probably gonna die the next turn and it ended up dealing the 9999 I needed to beat her.

Asshole who is going through every FF right now and recently completed 3 here.
Pretty decent game until you get mini'd. After that, I liked the game a lot until the very end where I started hating the boss rush. Overall, it's a fun game but the story feels generic as shit if you have touched any other FF product. If you are like me, and are also going through these games, I will note that IV is a massive improvement almost immediately.

>>385303837
The original translation for FF4 on SNES is terrible and anyone who disagrees with this is nostalgia blind. The PS1 version is the closest you can get to the original game with an actual translation. As for FF1, the GBA port is pretty awful for obvious reasons and the PSP version just lowered the difficulty even more for no reason. You /could/ play the patched NES version but why bother when the PS1 version exists.
>>
>>385303837
I don't about FF4 on the Ps1 but, if you want the original feel of the nes FF1 without playing the nes game then the closes you'll get is the ps1 version.

PSP has the PS1 translation but they absolutely ruined the visuals. It also tacked on some fan-fiction to the end if you are into that, and comes packaged with The After Years which is a sequel to 4 but it's pretty shit and not worth playing unless you are really desperate for more.

No it's not. PSP version of 4 is a shitty port of the flawed GBA version, complete with braindead, impossible to lose difficulty, but now with added extremely awful looking 3D cutscenes that somehow look worse than the in-game graphics on the DS version. It also has shittier writing that isn't consistent with the sequel, which was based on the DS version.

Only someone whose musical incompetence is off the charts would recommend the music """patch""" for GBA FFVI. It literally makes it sound even worse than the already awful sounding GBA version.

You can't make the GBA soundchip produce SNES quality music, even on an emulator, you goddamn retard.

The GBA version of 5 is recommended because, as any FF music connoisseur would know, that port did a good job with the soundtrack, and the SNES soundtrack wasn't nearly as finely composed and sampled as the FFVI soundtrack in the first place. Also, the GBA translation of V is extremely good, while the GBA translation of VI is a downgrade from the original.

As for FF7, anyone with any clue about video game graphics will immediately notice that the PC port runs on ancient Direct3D "technology" from the 90s, which means everything from shading to visual effects looks like COMPLETE GARBAGE. And there is no fix for this.

Finally, the FFX remaster contains NO positive changes. None. The only "new content" was already there in the International PS2 version, it was only missing from the US release. And if you're going to play FFX today you'll be emulating it and getting the complete version anyway.
>>
>>385300619
Bravely default?

Not much actually, anon.
>>
>>385308310

You can patch the music to change it, but you can't make the shitty GBA soundchip produce SNES quality music any more than you can make your NES emulator replicate PS2 music, you idiot.

It's disgusting that there are still people who are so musically retarded that they think using the music patch for GBA FFVI is acceptable.

Why do you make this so difficult?

Spoilers for every game:

FFI - NES (Do you want a censored space station)
FFII - Famicon (Do you want censored slaves shackled to dead slaves, dismantling the first time you learn the Emperor is a horribly evil?)
FFIII - Famicon (The protagonists being kids is essential for the story to work. Also Job fatigue is shit.)
FFIV - Anything will do, because it's shit, so why not the SNES to see what people actually fell in love with?
FFV - Super Famicon (No Faris verbal tick or anything superfluous to distract from the story's weight.)
FFVI - SNES re-released cartridge (Because only Woolsey Terra is god tier. Also musc and the rest of the translation. However the Sketch glitch needs to be avoided by using the new release.)
FFVII - PS1 Original Eidos PC release for the best official translation to date and Yamaha sounds, that Uematsu intended. If you can't get both stick with PS1.
FFVIII - PS1
FFIX - PS1 (The upgraded models clash with the backgrounds.)
FFX - PS2 (The game having bad resolution and blurriness just adds to its quality every year, making the game more dreamlike, fitting the themes. This perk also applies to Majora's Mask and no other game in history.
FFXII - PS2 (Zodiac Job System sucks. Just place your own restrictions, if you want them.)
FFXIII - PS3 (Problematic PC ports.)

See? No need to fret over every little thing. Just make it easy and play each original release. It's what I did.

Arc. Same name like the guy from Terranigma.

didn't he have the hots for that prince?

nice classic JRPG without a heavy focus on story and an actual difficult final dungeon

This is SO GOOD. I almost wish the surface world stayed that way, instead of being restored as soon as you beat Kraken.

the joy of only being able to save on the overworld, unless you're emulating

Each arm on each character has a secret level that goes up the more you attack with it. So if you put a shield in the left hand and later switch to dual wielding the left won't be as strong.

wait
for realsies?

Honestly one of the worse FF. The games loves giving the feeling of freedom to be whatever you want but it always loves forcing you in dungeons and fights where you are force to be classes. Like mini dungeon or the boss fight where you need to be Dragoons. There's little to really like because for every good it does it somehow fuck it up in some way.

Yeah its a hidden stat. Look up ff3 melee proficiency. Its only in the remake.

Not him, but you first. Nothing in his post is objectionable. A man of educated taste, though a bit too purist in regards to the first 5 games.

>semi-random turn order

Have fun watching a boss go last, deal massive damage to your team, and then on the next turn go first and wipe them.
