This is an urban legend. It isn't true. It's also kind of a dumb urban legend since 1-2 million people leaving work to buy a game wouldn't be as big of an impact as the legend is making it out to be. As well as the fact that pre-orders exist and they can get it on their lunch break.

In Japan, the 3DS version will definitely be considered the definitive version. Because it will sell 10x as much. But that being said, the PS4 version will boost sales for PS4 units itself. I mean Dragon Quest X being released caused a huge jump in Wii sales. And that was for an MMO that sold less than a typical DQ game. Imagine what the first single player game in a decade will do.

This is actually a big deal in Japan since it's one of the biggest series there, and Sony has cockblocked it from coming on the Switch just like they did for Monster Hunter. Tons of Japs are going to pick up a PS4 for this, when faced with the choice of a Switch they can't even find with an unknown release date. And it'll probably be a port of the 3DS version too

I don't maind no voice acting in game, but no voice acting in cutscenes when characters are clearly talking with subtitles just feels awkard and reeks of laziness.

When the game comes out in the west and they add voice acting to the cutscenes, it's going to be 100x more awkward. Because the English voices won't match the Japanese gestures and lip movements in any way. Characters will keep changing from talking too fast and too slow. Inflecting at the weirdest times just because the character on screen moves their hands. Etc.

But people will still defend it as better.
