I just beat Hollow Knight, with the True ending + The mushroom scene which I stumbled upon by accident, and I gotta say, as good as the ride was, it felt like it dropped off pretty hard in the second half. I feel like the true ending could've had more interesting shit in it besides getting the kingsoul and then void heart since one was just a platforming level with no real cool lore shit and the other was pure cool loreshit which just made me sad that the fake vessel you see in Deepnest was just a shitty optional "boss" and nothing more interesting. A cool thing they could've done with that is had a bunch of vessels appear running just nearly offscreen where you can only catch a glimpse if you pay attention or just out of reach like the one in deepnest, implying that the reason you can come back from death is that another vessel who's also running around always takes your place. Not to mention all the cut content and shit that I learned of after finishing the game.

Aside from the true ending being pretty unfufilling and Radiance's 2 health per hit gimmick being pretty fucking stupid, as a fight with a shitload of phases that wears down your health would've been far for satisfying that 2 decent phases and one kinda lame phase that take forever because lel double damage being bad I think the game was good. I want to get into Ori, but holy shit after playing Hollow Knight having a dumb Navi companion kinda sucks.
ESA was way better than Hollow Knight though and Hempuli had better fucking finish ESA 2 and stop fucking around with BABA IS YOU

I think this was implied enough, it was certainly my take on it.

I was really disappointed by the bee zone, felt pretty pointless after being so unnecessarily difficult to find.

It's not ideal to lose Geo during the first half of the game but you'll get by. Once you unlock the coliseum or do the banker "quest", Geo stops putting the brakes on progress

I'm not sure if thats still the case - I get the feeling that all the movement options break the gameplay and exploration more than they expand it. The White Palace was fucking awesome though.

Honestly the luckiest part was you didn't get any sideways needles in the first form. It's the only attack that can just screw you over and make you unable to attack for up to 20 seconds at a time if you get an unlucky stream of needles.

When the sideways needles hit it's much safer just to wait them out and don't pull any fancy tricks or else you usually eat a laser to the face like what you're showing here.

I haven't finished the game yet but one thing that stuck out to me is that the bosses are actually challenging, which is something I found lacking in Axiom Verge. Mantis lords are my favourite boss so far. The way they keep you on your toes at all times and give almost no opportunities to cheese the fight by healing is great design.
