Sure the ben drowned thing is creepypasta, but the lore of MM is pretty apparent.

For example, 4 stone pillars (4 giants) and a finger pointing up on fire.
The tower was built by the humans to climb to the goddesses to kill them/show them they believe in giants now.

You get the giant mask here.

When the level flips, you can flip the level again with the light arrows (goddess arrows).

The flipped world leads to hell (sand worm boss, shifting sands, think Beetlejuice or some other mythology).

The humans stuck there found majora's mask, built pillars to honor it, escaped via the portal in the picture someone else posted earlier.
They then built more majora pillars across the world.
