I died almost 40 times trying to fight him legit, I had done everything except the final boss and remembered this fucker was still alive. Went back and he killed me again a few times. I had two options: rage like a retard or change tactics. The charge attack I mentioned kills him and every similar asshole, like the Eileen version in the Chalice Dungeons.

I love blind playthroughs of the souls games, so much variation in quests and hidden areas. We had completely different expereinces

yes and no. bullets have a certain range but that mostly applies to if you just want to dmg/interrupt and enemy. in regards to parrying, you have a limited amount of chances to parry, and while you can get off a parry without being in attack range of an enemy, you really need to know the moveset/ranges of your enemy. otherwise you're too far away to do the double dash to get close and visceral or you're too close to where any mistake will cause the enemy's attack to connect with you.
in my eyes they mostly cancel each other out, because really bad players will just shit out bullets hoping one will stagger an enemy and run themselves dry, and if you don't know the moveset anyway then you can pull off the visceral even if you get the stagger.

He got me like 5-7 times. I then realized how to bait and dodge him for small hits and if you just turtle forever he will eventually do the lava vomit even if it does take forever that is a 100% chance to get 2-3 hits with no risk.

HBLB got me 7 times because i kept trying to fight him locked on and its just a fucking nightmare. The Queen actually killed me 2-3 times but i feel like that is because i was rushing since she was my last boss at the time.

I had a bizarrely hard time with him as well, and you don't see many people talk about him. I usually just end up poisoning him and playing keep away since I just can't find the safe windows to attack on him for some reason.

Headless was hard, but I was able to knock it out in under five tries.

I managed to get Amygdala first try the first time I did it. I've had difficulty in subsequent runs, but fundamentally you just play keep away and hit him in his big dumb fucking peanut head then run away.
