Baldwin the 4th was a king of Jerusalem that was infected with Leprosy but didn't let that stop him from killing the infidels, with at least one instance of him riding into battle on horseback using his left hand to swing his sword as the right had already weakened due to the illness. the white coat and mask he wears are apparently just design choices made in some movie about the crusades that came out in 2005 because as far as I can tell history doesn't really record him wearing anything like that, but art is all about taking cool shit and changing it just enough to make it unique so its fine.

I don't think you realize how contradictory that is, maybe you used the wrong word. Again, in this case "believable fantasy character" just sounds like "fantasy character I like" to me.
I couldn't give less of a shit about discrepancies between male and female outfits when the two hippies on the left can consistently last more than 4 seconds without getting mortally wounded by the guy on the right. (sorry about the pic of ants, I made that really quickly but you get my point)
But hey, I guess we just have different limits when it comes to suspension of disbelief.
