Don't do this to yourselves. I agree that some things in 2 look like straight downgrades, but give it a chance to stand on its own. I get the feeling that intentionally distancing itself from X is being done because they want vanilla Xenoblade and Xenoblade X to be two separate sub-series each with its own qualities. Things like mechs in 2 would feel terribly limited if you couldn't take them from one end of the world to the other without loading screens or if they were restricted by the plot due to the more linear nature of the game.
