There is literally no excuse to ever be online in a Souls game.

Only played DeS in 2014 so I didn't get invaded once.

Grass munching was never as much of a problem as people made it out to be.

Aside from your DeS character being faster than any other Souls protagonist except Bloodborne, munching being fast didn't make up for the fact that if you got caught once you could easily get combo'd and killed on the spot because DeS didn't have the combo break mechanic where you could get an out and just roll out of peoples attack chains.

Does it not have toggle escapes like in Dark Souls? I know the two-hit combo limit thing was only introduced in DS2, but in 1 you could get out of otherwise infinite stunlocks by toggling a weapon slot, the switching animation would override the stagger and let you roll away.

Scraping spear is just the most evil of them all. You can get it relatively early and it's the closest you can ever get to stopping someone's progress in their game. Repairs are pretty expensive at a low level where you don't get a lot of souls from enemies.
I don't think From tried anything like that ever again.
