I've started to grow somewhat disillusioned with Nintendo and didn't want to jump into their new console right away. Granted I like the WiiU, but they're making lots of stupid and greedy decisions these days. Part of me wants to wait out the whole system and see if the next one is backwards compatible (to Ninty's credit, it makes sense for this one not to be because of the switch to cartridge), then just hop immediately on that one and experience the games i missed.

Nintendo's can't fix a shitty wifi adapter with a patch. It's hardware. They might fix it in subsequent revisions but that won't help out you with your launch model.

If you're getting connection drops, and your router isn't a piece of shit (most modem+router combo units are total junk btw), then it's the Switch and you want a LAN adapter

A LAN adapter will also reduce your latency and make your connection generally more stable, so it's not a bad idea

I've given a lot of thought to this whole "underpowered console" thing, and I've come to the conclusion that adults who have been playing games since the days when every single image had a sharp edge demand more. We've suffered through shit graphics, and we're don't feel like trudging through them when it's possible to have something better.

It's the kids who's first consoles were Nintendo 64s that are all too happy to suck a dick for some 8-bit-action because it's still new to them and didn't wear them down for 10-20 years.

That is why I won't be partaking in a Nintendo Switch. I'm 38 years old. I've done shitty graphics for half my life. I can now afford top of the line electronics for the best experience possible. And that's where my money goes. I will play some Overcooked or Stardew Valley with the family, and that's fine, but for my personal time I want some fucking eye candy. Not because a game can't be fun without it, but because it sure as hell is a lot more enjoyable when it's there. And Nintendo can't deliver it.

It's not fixed. These controllers are starting to fail now because Nintendo are too cheap to re-design the PCB to incorporate an antenna plane. conductive foam is a bandaid that lasts about 3-4 months.
