7 is better because 10 doesn't actually add anything for gaming. "Game mode" doesn't actually do anything. I know this for a fact because BF1 almost maxes out my CPU, and random anti-malware and other bullshit still sneaks its way in to eat up the last but of processing power I have left, lowering my framerate.
Obviously I actually have Windows 10, but that's only because I know some games are just gonna require it and it was a free upgrade so whatever. Only have issues with BF1, though it's unfortunate since I play it a lot.

Linux is getting better, ever so slowly.

I find that Solus feels like a "more sleek, but usably inferior to Windows 7", but not by much, and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the amount of games you own on Steam that will just work flawlessly when you install the Windows-version of Steam through Wine, download your library that way, and the games will automatically be booted through wine as if it were native. There is no special setting up to do.

I mean, it's all better than it has been in the past. There's nothing that is still convincingly better than Windows 7 at the moment. I suggest just trying out distros of Linux in VM's or on your laptop just to get a feel for it.

Question, is there a list of games you can't play on Windows 7?

And a list of old games that you can't play on windows 10? I assume not all games are compatible either

Saints Row 2 runs like shit on 7. Easily the worst optimized game for PC I've seen in that instance, and I've played Deadly Premonition. DP may crash far more often, require restarting constantly to fix an buggy frame rate, custom fixes, etc, but nothing compares to all the shit you have to go for SR2 just to have it running close to how it should be. Even then, it always feels just a bit off. My friend who had 10, was able to play it right out of the box. No "benny hill" mode, no shitty FPS, nothing. I think the only thing he had was the gentlemen of the row mod.
