Whats the logic behind axe beating spears in Fire emblem? If it was realistic, spear would be unbeatable
because its a game you autistic faggot
if it was realisitic the guy who could shoot fire out of his faggot fingers would become the new godking
The logic is that it's a FUCKING VIDEOGAME and we need VIDEOGAME ELEMENTS otherwise it ISN'T A VIDEOGAME.

Spears are long. They are often wood. Trees are long. They are often wood. You use an axe to cut trees, so it makes natural logic to use an axe on spears. It's a video game you sperg.
Brigands terrorize Soldiers
Soldiers govern Mercenaries
Mercenaries deal with Brigands
And if rock-paper-scissors was realistic, rock would be unbeatable.
axes chop wood, spears are mostly wood
i don't really remember but dont axes have range in fire emblem as in their thrown

yup, these people are THAT guy
You hold the axe sideways and spears can't poke past it.
>>385204192
some do, but not all axes.
>>385204007
I always just imagined it that swords could outmaneuver the axe, but get out ranged by spears, and the weight of the axe can either cut the spear, or hook the shaft and get in.
how does wind beat thunder and thunder beat fire?

but paper cover roc

Spears are garbage for 1 on 1 dueling purposes, to the point that when soldiers in real battles were fighting someone 1 on 1, they'd drop their spear and draw a sword or dagger.
The advantages of spears is that they take very little training to use, are easy to make, and if you give a shit ton of soldiers some spears they can simply create a wall of spikes that the enemy has trouble getting close to. That is their advantage. It's the same with pikes as well. Spears were designed to keep an enemy at bay before your more hardened troops and or cavalry could get into position to flank them, it's what nearly every civilization with spear tactics used them for.

>Axes catch/cut the pole of the spear with the curves of the blade
>Spears out-range swords
>Swords parry axes
At least they didn't keep the original weapon advantage ideas of:
>Spears always strike first
>Axes deal double damage
>Swords have increased crit
>Gay little peasant comes around with his glorified stick
>Sidestep
>CHOP THE FUCKING THING IN HALF
>Proceed to cleave his skull
Something like that.
>>385204007
axes are used by bandits
swords are used by samurai and knights
Think of the movie 7 Samurai.
>>385204734
Whats the point of swords crit chance when axe is literally 100%crit chance. Unless swods crit dmg is like 1000%
>>385204596
You can still smash things with it. Covering the rock only makes it stronger.

Reminder that chopping hafts doesn't work -without a best-case scenario- you fucking idiots.
Stop thinking this shit.
You chop trees by taking small chunks out of it over a relatively-LONG time. Dozens of swings. And the tree's immobile/lets you transfer every ounce of every swing into cutting-power.
You'd only be able to SNAP, NOT CUT a haft if the span is wide, the guy & his arms are solidly locked in place, and you manage to land with the very tip of the axehead.
If the span's short there won't be enough flex and you'll just crush his guard. If he's not solid-as-a-rock you'll just crush his guard. If you don't hit with the tip or he isn't a moron & actively blocks your axe by ITS haft, you won't have the force/bite necessary to make the snap and your bearded piece of shit might even be taken away.
Stop fucking doing it
>hurr axes chop hafts hurdurr
fucking stop
>>385204007
If you like Spears so much stick it into your ass.
Reminder that the Romans had beat the Spartans on the same passage from the movie 300 without flanking therefore Spears are not unbeatable
>>385204007
>If it was realistic spear would be unbeatable
Shields exist.
>>385204007
Spears, while having good range aren't very thick and durable, an axe can easily chop one in half.
Spears are objectively superior when they have an axe blade on the end of them.
>>385205706
Agreed, but unsurprisingly treated as axes in FE when you'd be a retard to try and predominantly stab with this.
>>385205601
>Spearfags are this assblasted because they keep getting their shit chopped in by axebros
Pathetic.
>>385205601
>Spearfag too weak to chop a stick in one swing
Color me surprised.
>>385205601
I don't think anybody is saying it's a good explanation. It's just the only explanation we have.
>>385205601
Stop posting and go fuck your sister Ephraim
>>385204007
>axe beats spear
what? this entire circle should go other way around.
sword should beat spear, because once you bypass spear's range, you can stab at very close range.
Can't do it with axe, you need to swing it from within spear's range and therefore spear should beat the axe.
Axe should then beat sword due to powerful swings.
>imb4 muh unbeatable spear
yeah yeah, I'm just saying that the rock-paper-scissors circle here would make more sense if it was reversed.

What if instead of a weapon triangle, each weapon class had different strength advantages over specific class traits? Like axes being extra effective against classes that didn't wear armor, spears being effective against horseback units, or how hammers are effective against knights and heavy armor units. This could also mean that certain classes that mixed traits (like heavy armor + horseback) would have more weapon weaknesses.
>>385205601
>You chop trees by taking small chunks out of it over a relatively-LONG time.
With a much heavier axe-head aswell. Battle axes are much lighter than felling axes.
>>385206321
Because that would make Lords weak to the starting enemies of every single game instead of strong against.
>just give the lords spears
>implying
What's the logic behind women beating men in video games? If it was realistic, men would be unbeatable

Everyone knows spear fags are just compensating for something

>good post in shitty thread
>>385204007
Chop the spears like they're sideways trees
>>385204007
It's because hookbill axes and hatchets which are the primarily representive axes in FE are a subset of axes that are known as parry axes and meant to do specifically that, parry, and tangle up your weapon upon which you either disarm them or you move in with your offhand. These axes were great spear killers as unlike swords which have the option to just slide down the hilt, spears have no such option.
Just slip greatshields in there between spear and axe. Big ol' shield beats spear, axe beats shield, world keeps on spinnin
