what are your thoughts on the game of thrones video game?
>>385201201
YAASSS QUEEEEN
>>385201201
It was okay, but you basically get fucked and end up with the same outcome regardless of which decisions you take, especially in the scenes at House Forrester.
I know that's fitting for Game of Thrones and nothing abnormal for a Telltale game, but it just feels a bit more obnoxious in this series than in other Telltale games for some reason.
>>385202063
Care to explain this meme?
Telltale going full cash in, better off playing TFTBL
>>385202063
is it more extreme than the show even?
Stannis is going to smash Ramsey in the battle of winter. Stannis is the greatest military commander in westereos and has the land mapped out and his men making traps. Ramsey Snow is a bastard shit who has never won a proper battle.
>>385201201
Play the better game. Short on production values, but really good story that actually makes use of the setting to tell its own story and not just rehash shit.
>>385202338
PssssStannis is dead
Whats the Game of Thrones of videogames ?
>>385202462
Skyrim
>>385202462
Skyrim, such an easy answer.
Reminder that anyone still watching this show needs to contemplate suicide.
>Jon enters
>Dany: have you come to bend the knee?
>Jon: I've come to bend you over your throne and fuck your dragon ass
>Dany: I must warn you I have explosive diarrhea
>Jon: that only makes it better
>Jon proceeds to fuck Dany in every degenerate sexual position imaginable
>Tyrion: ah truly it was a song of fire and ice
Would you play it?

>>385201201
is it on the mount and blade engine?
>>385202569
I watch it as cheap throwaway entertainment knowing that it's ultimately trash with little artistic merit.
>>385202569
If the book series was finished, I would read the books. But the way that fat fuck is going, you're never going to get to read the ending - he'll be dead long before that.

>>385202569

so don't bring up your gay books in a video game thread
>>385201201
I'd hardly call a bunch of qte events a game
>>385201201
>game
a game needs an element of skill, a failure state and a success state. this animated novel has none of those. if you die in a qte, the qte just restarts. the choices don't matter either because they don't change what happens.
you are basically watching a show with the illusion of choice and the illusion of interaction

Even beyond the obvious "your choices don't mean jack shit", the writing is just generally awful.
Easily the worst Telltale game made
>>385202324
Not really. Dany comes off as a complete bitch in the game.
>>385203551
nobody here gives a shit you dumbfuck autist
Engaging, but infuriating and unsatisfying. The Forresters get fucked over so much harder than the Starks ever did in my opinion and it's a painful, frustrating experience because it never lets you succeed or take matters into your own hands. Any other actual game and I would have wiped the fucking villains off the face of Westeros in the first 20 minutes, but it never lets you. Even in the show and books, at some point something has to give and the protagonists get their revenge or whatnot, but here it just constantly moves the goalposts and laughs in your face while doing it. So much so that even when you do manage to get some small victories or bits of revenge, it is never enough to satisfy. The second season better be a massive turning point for the heroes or I'm not even going to subject myself to it.
>>385203551
Keep going mate, I'm loving these
Why was Margaery such a cunt in this game when she's generally a kind, good hearted person in the show? Made no fucking sense.
>>385203659
this desu
>Room full of guards
>Ramsay stabs their Lord in the head right in front of them all
>Ramsay isn't immediately hacked to pieces

This is actually terribly written.
Like they are both great stories but from a mechanical perspective a song of fire and ice/ Lord of the Rings are some of thr worst books I have ever read. Both have much better on screen adaptions. Something that is very rare.

>>385203892
Those Dorne women are without a fucking doubt the most awful shit in the show and possibly some of worst characters in all of television. Just complete cancer.Thankfully at least two of them are dead now and the other two are captured by that glorious bastard Euron. Of course the SJW agenda has become way too strong on this show so they'll almost certainly survive and kill him in some bullshit way.
>>385204136

>>385204182
Friendly reminder that D&D have no idea what the "iron price" is
>>385204240
To be fair Roose Bolton was one of the better adapted characters, primarily because of stone cold performance. That whole "sociopath who learned to hide it" was a nice contrast to his bastard who was always blatant about it.
Until D&D needed to write him out of the story, that is.
>>385204346
What do the thenns eat again? I feel like the show never made it clear.
>>385204293
show euron was just horribly miscast from the get-go. his actor is a charisma vacuum.
This is the last one I have
I could've sworn I had one about Barristan. Oh well.
>>385204420
I dunno, I think it was some kind of meat but they never really made it clear
>>385202797
Remember how D&D killed off Barristan just because his actor said his character is still alive in the books?
>>385204464
I actually like the show version of them finding it completely abandoned. Was a good scene. And they only did it because they obviously had to save the time and budget for other bigger battles.
>>385204346
changing thenns to a complete opposite in the show was one of the weirdest calls that really had no basis. god knows they could've invented a badass warrior tribe or something.
>>385204817
It'd be nice to mirror the books, but of all the cuts, i concur that it's more acceptable. Like it was treated similar to Harranhall or something where no one really wanted it.
I didnt play this game because im not riding on Telltale's money train. They have a proven formula that works so well they reuse the same graphics, gameplay, and story telling for fucking everything with just different licenses. Their refusal to even change their art style seemingly leads them to choose properties where they dont have to. With this one instead of comic look they went with some weird oil painting thing? It just doesn't work at all, especially when they portray the TV show's actor's likenesses.
>The walking dead
based on a comic, use comic art style
>Batman
comic art style
>Borderlands
close enough
>the Wolf Among us
based on another comic, dont change shit
>Guardians of the Galaxy
Could of used the comic look again and based it ON the comic, but their new art direction was to look like a fucking ps2 game on top of feeling like a soulless husk of the movies.
Telltale used to make, at least, creative adventure games. Now its a formula they shit out.
>>385204919
>I didnt play this game because im not riding on Telltale's money train.

Ain't broke and whatnot. GoT was a step above TWD.
>>385204725
>Book Barristan as an old man kills the most dangerous pit fighter alive with relative ease
>Show Barristan gets killed by a few unarmored peasants who have daggers
>>385204919

Are you having a laugh? They did a surprisingly good reproduction of the actors. Some were even improved. Shame about the original characters, though.

>>385204969
Even if its good, I know im going to be raging the entire time because no one can replicate James Gunn's writing. It just comes off as trying really hard and falling on your face. If they adapted Annihilation, the comics the movies are based on, I would have bought it instantly. But I know im in the minority here. For a worse example try watching the Guardians cartoon, its awful.

Tales From The Borderlands is the best Borderlands game and the best Telltale game
>>385204873
Season 1 was great because it stuck with the books for the most part and the few changes it did make were pretty good, like giving Viserys more character development and even Ned vs Jaime was fine
Then it started going downhill VERY quickly in season 2, the most egregious of which would probably have to be Robb, going from "breaks marriage vow due to being drugged and having a misplaced sense of honor and worrying about bastards so much because of Cat" to "breaks marriage vow because he throws a temper tantrum and marries a nobody"
>>385205147
I meant visually. And it was all perfectly serviceable beyond the Not-Sansa bitch.
Like, they obviously had limits to work in, and they did so in a reasonable manner.
>>385201201
I loved the characters unironically.
Obviously none of your choices matter, but if you get past that it's extremely entertaining.
Also, no SJWism.
>>385202324
It's not at all. You play as honorable men keeping the honor of your house high and a little girl sneaking around gossiping about people. It's perfect.
>>385205171
Oh aye, there have been some stunningly retarded choices like that. When they have to cut a battle or some other huge event because they have a budget? Fine. But there was literally no reason anyone would ever have thought Sand Snakes was even remotely acceptable. And like you say, the shit with Robb. Just zero need for it, and would have made more work for the idiots.

>>385203872
There are so many fucking times where the Whitehills kill your friends and family, take your things, spit in your face, disrespect you flagrantly and then bitch if you get mad at them for it, etc and the game forces you to take it. And then at no point does it just let you slaughter them to the last like the retarded human garbage they are. Or even if you try to take a diplomatic route of finding common ground and civility, it refuses to let you have that either. It's fucking maddening. It's bad enough with Ramsay Snow there just to kill people without consequence because of his plot armor, but giving the villains made up specifically for the game the same plot armor while constantly shitting on the player no matter what is just genuinely too much for me to tolerate. The whole point of a video game is to let me have that power fantasy of not having to put up with people who dare to stand in my way or ruin my character's life. The best parts of this game for me were Rodrik's proud defiance in the face of bullshit because I related to it entirely while playing this.Standing up to Gryff and making him look like a worthless bitch is priceless. Beating him half to death with a cane is pure bliss. And beheading him while he cries and begs is cathartic as fuck. But then the ending shits on you even harder for having even a minute of fun and pleasure.
>>385202797

>>385205496

>tfw the show's ending will likely differ significantly from the book's, but since the final book is still years away if it ever comes out at all, the show's ending will be the only one anyone knows and will almost certainly be feminist agenda pushing cancer where Danaerys survives as queen and Sansa is in charge of the North and all male characters are dead and everyone will be incredibly smug about it

>Ever picking Asher over Rodrick
Why is he so great?
>>385202569
Jamie does the fucking plot line from the books after that you fucking mong. His ark in season 6 is exactly this, dealing with the riverlands and black fish.
>>385203594
Stay mad, cuckold.
>>385206554
He said that two years ago
>>385206618
I liked Asher and it was hard to pick, but I agree Rodrik is fantastic. I relate to him a lot. He is the only logical choice really.
>>385205790
Pretty much this. You get chastised and shit on for literally every choice you make or choose not to for no good reason while the villains can tapdance all over your experience and suffer no consequence for it.
Goddamn it, I hate TTGOT
>>385206618
But picking Rodric makes it so Asher traveled half a continent worth of content to get killed in his doorstep, making the entirety of his arc worthless (nobody would be in the pier if he wasn't).
But picking Asher means, well, playing as Asher over Rodrick. And nobody honestly wants that.
>HEY RODRICK I BROUGHT AN ARMY FOR US
>oh that's great Asher, let's see
>it's literally less than 20 people
is Stannis dead? Why don't they show his dead body
>>385205624Man, you cold as ice.Like, Asher was basically dead to them already, Rodrik had more to live for. Asher was better looking, though.
>>385207176
>>385206818
Chose Asher because he reminded me of Gannicus.
>>385207176
Yeah I did feel a little bad since he died right after arriving but I don't think anyone but the biggest normie writing choose him over Rodrik who's so much more interesting as a character than Medieval Starlord.
>>385207228
>Actor no longer works on the show
Take a wild guess.
>>385207228
Yes. Because the show writers fucking despise Stannis and go out of their way to spite people who like him. They showed Brienne execute him to avenge her gay bff.
>>385206618
Yea, but man it was a hard choice. I liked Asher more but in that situation, just couldn't go with him.
>>385205790
Blinding him gave me joy i have rarely felt before. Especially because i bowed to him up until that point.
Really pisses me off that the broest bro-in-law had to get Ramsey'd no matter what.
>>385207178
Remember that they had only like 18 fighting men before that.
Actually quite liked that about the game; they had realistic proportions for fighting prowess between houses.
>>385205373I let my Mira get executed with honor, dignity, and pride. Always looked out for her friends and spoke truthfully. No fucking way was that dumbass tree salesman getting Ironrath. In other words, I made choices with her that no real woman probably ever would. A sad thought.
>>385207879But do you think that was the best thing for her family? I just used her like she would have been used by her family in that setting. Also, fuck Margaery. I did what she asked, and she disliked me for it, then blamed me for shit she herself does.
I hope next season Gared gets to give Sylvie the Ironwood. If you take my meaning.
>>385208107
he's not even the lord, he has no hand in distributing the ironwood, anon
Hell yeah I love Cyanide games
Ludd or Griff?Killed Griff myself, because it'd mean more to Ludd than the reverse situation. Though that way might destablise the Whitehills more, if it weren't a TT game.
>people thinking Asher/Rodrick isn't going to just die in episode 1 of season 2
>people thinking Gared won't end up in the exact same place no matter what you chose at the end of season 1
>people IN THIS THREAD think their choices matter in a telltale game
>>385208046Margaery felt so out of character in this game. She's a raging bitch for no apparent reason and never helps you once but then constantly implies she did while bitching at you every other scene. I honestly approached all my interactions with her under the pretense of knowing she doesn't matter and gets terrorist bombed by Cersei later anyway, so didn't give a fuck what she thought. I think Mira sacrificing herself with her head held high is the bravest thing she could have done, and while very tragic because I liked her, is a better end than being in that guy's rape dungeon while he owns her family's land. Fuck him.
>>385206035
Agrees. The books are like a shitty musical adaptation of the movies with a terrible unesesary extra problem at the ending, tolkien clear had shitty fucking editors or maybe yes men.
>>385202569
What is described here as taking place only in the books also happens in the TV show. With the exception that he doesn't "reconsider his relationship" (even that is very arguable), Jaime's character still develops in the show from a show-off Lancelot-type to a wise Jedi-type.
Fuck outta here with your elitism, this isn't the fucking Illiad.
So, where is Season 2?
>>385208553
I agree entirely with your post. That's why i did mostly the opposite.
Besides, i figure Rodrik will have a thing or two to say about the rape dungeon. Asher probably would have, but Rodrik seemed like he'd do more (Asher would just charge in himself and be done with it). Not like he'll touch my wood, with two Forrester lords still to go through.
Also, thinking timeline wise, it's following the show, so i told Margaery to fuck off and rode Cersei's dick. Seemed like the logical plan for what's coming.
>>385208714

>>385206231
Martin is an even worse judge of his own writing progress than he is at actually finishing the books. So we have no idea.
>>385205373
story wise, asher just felt perfect. The prodigal son being thrown into a leadership role in a family that exiled him. That's some shit you'd put in a book
>Eleana turns down the betrothal because I tell her I love her instead of bribing her family
>Comes back next episode begging for help because her dad is selling her off to Gryff

>lol ramsay is invincible xd: the game
>>385209246
Totally. And if Rodrik wasn't so fly, it'd be an easy choice. But the nigga just got engaged, and he fought against literally every odd. I was praying for it to be the same situation as with Rodrik where they might appear alive again later. But no.
>>385209521
Yea, one of the few things i'm glad i spoilered myself on to get the right outcome.
>>385209931
I was just expecting the person who stays behind to get captured, so I let Asher stay thinking he had a better chance of fighting and surviving on his own like that. Sadly no. Still prefer Rodrik as well though. ;_;
>>385210215
That would have been logical, but i guess it means that the one who survives will die almost immediately in Season 2, otherwise it'd be too much like hard work for them to have both set up.
